hey, i dont no anything about laptops but i want to buy one. I Want something good for graphic design and movie making, fast, lots of memory. What is some thing good?? If you can post a link.

why do you want a laptop? more than twice as expensive if you want the same features as a good desktop. if you desperately need to take it places, i guess you have to, but otherwise theres no point.

i thought the same thing, and bought a laptop (for about $3400) and it hasnt moved once, mostly because of all the shit plugged into it: LAN cable, firewire, printer, mouse, ect.

I have a dell laptop for work (Newschoolers) and it's amazing. If you can afford to get a laptop and you move around a lot the ability to work anywhere is priceless. Of course the faster the better but I can edit video, run photoshop/illustrator/indesign and anything else no problem with only 256 mb ram and a 2.0 ghz celeron chip. Ideally an apple g4 or ibook would have been amazing but for the price this dell has exceeded my expectations by a mile.

pc all the way, unless you want it to not work.

laptops rule. get wireless internet and you can compute where ever you want! including the bathroom.

Personaly I believe my short term memory has been affected but that is the main side effect and I also think maybe my short term memory has been affected.

Get a dell inspiron. not too cheap though. if weight isnt a problem to you, get the Dell Smartstep. all the best options are available on every aspect except size. go check them out on the website.

yeah the new Apple Power Books are amazing. My neighbor just bought there new 12 inch ones and there fucking sick as hell! he got a new ipod with it for like 40 bucks extra too which is a awesome deal. Go for one of those there so sick. You'll be glad you got it.

 
i've got a compaq presario 2175...i normally wouldn't have considered getting a compaq but i got a disgustingly good deal on it so i couldn't pass it up.

It's an athlon xp 2400+, 512ddr, 40gb, radeon 7000 64mb ddr, burner/dvd player, built in 802.11b, firewire blah blah blah

so far, it's been fucking pimp. absolutely no problem with premiere 6.5 and it renders pretty damn quick too.

It's for sale too if anyone is interested. I'll sell if for what i bought it for and just buy another one :-) That way someone else can get a slick deal too :-D

I have a powerbook G4, its fucken piimp... editing machine.. and i have access to programs like final cut pro, soundtrack, idvd... the whole shabang.... if your lookin to get into editing and graphic design... powerbook is ya deal

Yup, don't even waste your time looking at a PC for any kind of editing cause an Apple will blow it away. !5' Powerbook with SuperDrive and you're set.

i know u dont want some piece of shit, but tigerdirect.com has got some older ones that are alot cheaper. also refurbished or recertified ones fine and alot cheaper.

people who tell you to buy an intel or amd vs a ppc don't know what they're talking about. for a laptop, it's ppc (risc) all the way. if you want me to go into why. just say so
