Hey,Im looking to buy a new laptop to replace my desktop.I currently have a Dell 8200 from 2001 or 2000 i think, but it doesnt work to well anymore.Im going to use it mainly for editing vids, downloading music, pictures, and internet.Little gaming, schoolwork, and money management type stuff will be done.Im trying to keep it under $2000,I want a 12-inch screen,a minimum of 60 gigs, and something remotely fast.I was looking at either a sony or dell.Any reccomendations? Thanks

If editing is high on your priority list there really is no question, buy an apple.

I would look at the Dell 5000 series. They run on pentium 4's above 3.0 ghz. I have one with an upgraded graphics card, the best wireless internet card, a 3.2 ghz processor, 512 megs of ram, and a high resolution screen. I think it cost about $1,800. It is a good balance a power and mobility, but sometimes I wish I had gotten something lighter. It would have sacraficed power, but I don't need all the power that I have.

i got an hp zd8000 a week ago and it is amazing. 17 inch screen, double layer burner, 1 gig ram, 3.2 gig processor, 256 mb video ram, and whatnot. it kicks ass.

did you build a dell or something? who makes it, i'd recommend getting a little smaller hard drive with more rpm's like a 60 gb 7200 rpm, a little smaller but a lot faster, and that p4 is gonna kill your battery life, but i guess you dont' really need that.
