Laptop?

im getting a laptop for school next year.

im looking for something in the 1,000 - 1,300 dollar range. What should I get? I know those are really general specs, but I have no idea where to start

Alright, I would go with a PC, whether it be a Dell or an HP. If you are looking to do any type of gaming or editing I would go with the HP Pavilion Media Center laptop, I hear it is unbelievable. If you don't want Vista, I would strongly encourage using Dell, that way you can run windows XP. Just so you know you can still order computers with XP, and I would suggest it due to the newness of Vista.

You do not want Vista, it eats computers alive as it has so many bugs.

After using PCs for my whole life, I love my MacBook so much. It works so much better and performs much more nicely than any PC or non Mac laptop I have used.

If you want the big guns and don't mind hauling it around, get a Macbook Pro. You will not regret it.

I thought it would be hard adjusting to mac os from having windows all my life but I love my macbook pro, its actually way easier to use than a pc

it's true. we had imacs and emacs at school, and i couldn't stand using them. then i got a macbook for myself, and it's so simple to use and it just works better.
