Laptop Overheating... fuck this!

has anyone had problems with laptops overheating? i have a toshiba satelight and it was goin fine until like a week ago its started to overheat alot easier.. it sometimes shuts off while sitting on a table or desk.. its fucking retarded!
 
You could get one of those cooling stands at like Best Buy or wherever. Those help, but yeah that sucks.
 
fidn some of those rubber stick on circles and put them on...you need some space between the vents on the bottom and the surface...my friends HP does it all the time I can ask him how he fixed it.
 
is it the one with to round speakers cuz my friend has that one and for some reason the fan at bottem its kinda gay he just go a cooling thing for 30 bucks at best buy and had like no more poblems but ya its a bitch
 
yea i have the same computer. my bro does that and it works perfectly. you can also buy some of that pressurized air to spray in teh back.
 
you can get a cooling pad that hookis into the USB port. that should solve your problems, although I cant imagine it would help battery life.
 
Everyone I know has that has that same computer has experienced the same problem. It's because the CPU fan gets clogged with dust to a point where the dust starts to severly interfere with the fans cooling ability. Compressed air helps a slight bit, but not much, as it can't really access the CPU fan. You need to take it into whereever you bought it (and see if they'll do it for free) and have it taken apart and the fan cleaned.
 
the only problem with that is most places like Radioshack, Best Buy etc wont do much in house laptop work. You might end up having to send it away to get it cleaned.
 
if it just happened really quickly, it could be a clooged fan and that could be bad cause it could overheat and melt you chip.

i use a laptop cooler when its docked im y room just to help (its also a 4 port USB hub, thats helps).

Check your power properties too. Turn it to Laptop/Notebook. I find that one is the best setting for temp.
 
are yeah,another thing to try is to set up up on off the surface a bit with someithing like 4 erasers in each corner so the air can get under it. If you have it on certian surfaces *like a lap, carpet, etc* the fan intake gets sufficated (if your opening is on the bottom that is)
 
dude...simple fix...throw that shit in a bucket of water for like 5 minutes and it will cool down...trust me...and make sure its on or it wont work properly
 
my roommate has a toshiba labtop too and had the same problem. The problem was too much dust clogging the fan. He just took it to a computer guy who cleaned it out and now it works fine
 
I read last week that the heat from your laptop slows your production of sperm...only temporarily tho, so no worries

i did that....spilled a bunch of water on the keyboard and it went right through the lapper......didnt to anything though....lucky
 
Just some food for thought, My Dell laptop recently was unable to play games properly. The framerate would drop to nothing. My friend took out the fans and discovered THICK strips of dust in the fans, and now my laptop runs fine again.
 
i cant get the bottom of mine off.....i take out the 20 fucking screwed but there are still things holdin on i dont wanna break off if i take it apart wrong
 
yeah i have the same problem, so im gonna sell it soon and buy a Powerbook G4, its not even overheating it just shuts off randomly when i dont use it for a couple of minutes wich could totally erase all my fuckign schoolwork if i were writing a paper so i cant risk it, plus mac's are fucking hotsauce.
 
I use two #2 pencils spaced about 10" apart just to elevate it off the surface of my desk. Never had a problem.
 
save your money on a cooling pad and just use the pencil idea...same effect, lets the air get under it.

Only get one if it runs so hot it would cook bacon on
 
their laptops run so consistenly, i have an ibook g4 and it has frozen once in two years....once
 
i've never really had the problem of mine overheating too much.

but i have heard that guys who use laptops usually have a lower sperm count since the heat from the laptop on your lap is enough to kill your sperm.
