Laptop Editing

I was wondering what would be a good laptop to make edits. I just bought myself a GoPro Hero 3 and my laptop is shit. When i play my videos on it its like slowmotion and the quality is deffinatly not 1080p .. My price range is aroung 800 dollars. Can you guys please give me advice on what to get or specific models that you know are good. or even models that you have yourself. +k will be awarded. P.S If its worth it i probably can invest alittle more money.

I use a macbook pro, it can handle pretty much anything pretty well, but it is definitely not $800. For $800 on a laptop, I would look for a used/refurb macbook pro (most likely a 13"). Look for a decent processor (icore, not a core2duo or something), and hard drive. SSD is better, but not mandatory (if your budget allows, do it). Upgrade the ram yourself to 8gb, and you should be able to burn through that footage with ease.

As far as editing goes I think you are going to want to go with a Macbook Pro. It costs a lot but it is fantastic for video editing and will handle a lot of footage. Also, depending on how much footage you will be capturing, I think you will want to get an external hard drive. HD footage takes up a looooottt of space.

You definitely dont "need" a mbp.

The computer mvf posted is pretty solid for your price range. Laptops are tricky, you can get really cheap windows laptops but they usually suck, but if you spend 800-1000 on a windows laptop you can get a beastly machine.

I have a samsung series 7 chronos and that thing hauls. Like can have multiple cs6 programs doing stuff, as well as chrome and iTunes, and still runs fine

You don't need an MBP but I personally think they're pretty damn good. I'd recommend looking at apple refurbs.
