one of them has that dreamy shiny screeeennnn

averatech has amd athlon 2400

others have p4

all have dvd burner

list more specific stuff, hard drive sizes, ram and processor speed. but probably just get the cheap one. also it matters what your gona use it for, also shut up.

i need at least 60gb HD, at least 512mb RAM, dvd-burner, firewire would be very nice. i want that wide shiny shnazzy display. P4 is ideal over amd, i've heard, for video editing...is this true?

the deal is, i want big HD, memory, and dvd burner . firewire. and fancy screen without getting a HUGE laptop. under 1200.

any ideas?

Get a desktop.

I would stay away from compaq laptops. If you are serious about editing, you will want a beefy desktop with a tits monitor. It is really nice to have both a laptop for mobility and a desktop for power

i don't want to pay for an ibook or powerbook.

ibook isn't up to par with what i needl, and powerbook is too much.

I'd go with the HP. I never really trusted Compaq's.

dude if you in it for HD editing i'd get the new powerbook 80 gig and final cut HD.

but that will be a little be over your limit...

so i say you make some $ and invest in something that will be worth wile

tigerdirect.com/ they have a SWEET one for 1200. check it. its got like 3.2 processor, a ton of memory, a big hard drive, ect. that place is great. we bought all of our stuff throught them.

The idea of a powerbook is so you can brag to everyone how cool you are because you have a powerbook.

The extra $600 or more is well worth it.

I don't think I will ever go back to a PC. Macs are well worth the cost. When I think about it, if your going to be spending $1200 on a computer, saving more and going for something extra special is well worth it.

I'm no techy but I heard rumors of a G5 powerbook in months to come like January. When that does come around you'll be able to get a G4 for like chump change.

 
the averatech is sooo light...but not powerful enough.

the hp and compaq notebooks, when in the same price range, are almost interchangeable...

personally, i reccomend toshiba notebooks. highest quality...

if u got enough money get a good desktop and get broadband on it, then get an average laptop with wireless network an.......u can figure it out

 
is a p4 better than an athlon, absolutely not. but, a 2400 is very not good,small like, if ya kow what im saying.

^Alienware laptops are great! ...As long as you leave them plugged in. The battery is gone in about an hour otherwise.
