Lange Inferno

Hey, has anyone skied the lange inferno? Looking for some general info about how it fits, whether its comfortable, and how stiff it feels. It's a 115 flex, but I'm an aggressive expert who skis trees, bumps, and carves east coast ice. i dont ski park. check them out here.

They are basically a softer version of the banshee. Which is a great low volume boots. Also look at the falcon 110 by salomon.

^ good idea.

I was looking into Banshee Pros the end of this past season, along with Solly Falcons(I had owned Falcons in the past). I thought they would be similar fit to the falcons, but they feel different. They have a massive toe box..I mean I understand Lange not putting a race tight toe crunching toe box, but this just felt sloppy(like massize swollen fat toes). It's not the worst thing ever, but that(and the odd flex of the Banshees) kept me from buying them. Note that Langes flex scale seems softer than most. I ended up getting Falcon CS Pros, and the second choice was Rossi 120s(White boots, 120 flex, also come in a 110 flex). Couldn't be happier with the CS Pros, but they are stiffer than Banshee Pros(which Lange rates 135) so maby you should look into Falcon CS or Falcon Gun(Guns are cheaper and have a rubber bootboard) or Falcon 9 from a few years back. Good luck!

did you flex the banshee pros on hill or just in the shop?
they stiffen up more then any other boot I know.
banshee pro was one of the stiffest non race boots from last year, way stiffer then the CS pro.

i tried last years cs pros in a shop the other day. theyre a 120 flex and barely felt softer than my nordica dobermann pro 130s. I want something noticeably softer than the dobermanns for freeride, but definitely still want the low volume feel (98mm last). none of the shops near me stock the infernos, so im definitely looking at falcons. im also considering tecnica diablo race pro 110s.

Yeah I don't blame you, they are pretty stiff. There is also the Falcon 10(110) Falcon gun(95) and Falcon 9/CS(90) that are all the same shell fit. there seems to be a big gap from 10s to guns though, which I think is what you were looking to fill. The only thing that comes to mind is Krypton Pros. Get them over Il Moro's(I owned Moros and realize that K Pros probably make more sense..). They have a slightly higher instep than falcons, slightly wider heel, and slightly bigger toe box(so wider-skinnier-wider pretty much). They are worth trying, and luckily the thick shell can take alot of boot work(you can sand some away if you want, like widening the instep if you are flat footed). FTs fit tighter throughout than Dalbellos, so I never really had a chance with them(I am flat footed=arch painnnn escpecially while hiking). If you get Kryptons, you MUST get a GOOD THICK footbed imo to make them work well though(because the lowest part of the boot that touches your shin is higher than most boots, which is why some people get shinbang, and because the stock footbed is nearly flat, another cause of shin bang). I recommend Sole Softec Ultra.

so now its between the inferno, tecnica diablo race pro 110, and falcon 10. thanks guys.

i was also thinking nordica supercharger blower, but their site doesnt show them- did they discontinue the supercharger line? plus according to backcountry.com, last years blowers were 130s as opposed to the ones im thinking of (translucent red) from a couple years back which were 115.

its so slow waiting for shops to get stock in. not to mention the one nearest me doesnt even stock any of the "high end" stuff im looking for.

Not sure, but I know Technicas have a wider and less "wrapped" heel than falcons. If the Falcons are along the lines of what you want, then also look into a Rossi 98mm boot(I don't know names, just that the 120 shell was close to Falcons, and there might be the same shell in a softer flex).

after another session at a different shop today, im thinking cs pros. they dont stock falcon 10s or anything from salomon with a 110 flex. i know i could order last years falcon 10s online, but i believe in supporting shops. i also tried the tecnicas and found them to be too soft. the cs pros fit amazingly and are a bit too stiff, but at this shop boot work is free with the purchase of boots, so ill have them ground a bit.

any more thoughts?

The Salomons are going to be the tightest fitting of all the boots you listed. Be careful of the instep on them. They are very low volume esp in the instep. Ive found the falcon 110 to be softer than the racepro 110, and waaay softer than the langes. Idk if you have looked into dalbellos, but look into the krypton series. You could get the crosses, and put the stiffeners in and the flex becomes around a 110. If you need them to be any stiffer, you can get the stiff tounge and it becomes something nasty!

the verdict:

after trying on tons of boots, it came down to the lange infernos vs. the salomon falcon 10s, both 08-09 models.

salomon pros: very snug fit, feels like it would be very responsive especially for carving. the cuff is snug and flex is smooth, using the whole boot. the "race" liner is very dense and does not seem like it would pack out much.

salomon cons: also as mentioned before, the fit is incredibly narrow. i am used to a 98mm last, but these felt smaller overall than my dobermann pro 130s. after having the boot on for 15 minutes, i felt i could not comfortably ski bumps in it.

lange pros: overall much more comfortable than the salomons. slightly thicker liner but still dense enough. the tongue has a nice rubber pad that seems like it would help with shin bang. stiffness is very similar to the salomons, but they flex in a different way.

lange cons: the way the cuff connects to the rest of the boot doesnt seem as unified as the salomon. it feels more like its flexing on a hinge and isnt as smooth. its a 115 flex, but actually felt softer that the salomons, which are 110.

both boots felt as though theyd be responsive, and the lange felt a little more forgiving without a significant loss of power. i feel i could ski a full day on the langes in bumps and trees and enjoy it more than the salomons.

quick verson: i personally preferred the langes.
