Landis on Drugs

thats ridiculous if he really was. if he was he just went from like the nice guy oh he has a fucked up hip we all love you to the biggest asshole on the planet.

i just heard about this on the radio when i aws in the car. said on the radio he tested positive for testosterone...well no shit. hes male. wtf. anyway, its a common problem with endurance athletes, including females.

theres an olympian xc skier in our state that my sister is pretty good friends with, anyway, she was recently put on hold for skiing ebcause she had more than normal amounts of testosterone. its somewhat normal for endurance athletes to have more testosterone that say, a fat guy sitting on the couch.

im hoping this is nothing, and that the media is just trying to get peoples attention and all that shit. i hate the fucking media, they find one thing a tad off in an athletes test, and blow it up to be something fucking huge. i mean...ok, he trains an unhumanly amount and is in probably the best shape of damn near anyone on the planet....and their concerned about him having too MUCH testosterone. grow up media.

yeah just as we 'mericans gain some respect in the cycling world, this shit goes on and drops us to the lowest level

Lance will never be tainted though...hes in his own league and Landis won't ruin the rep of American cycling...hurt it, yes....but USA always has the armstrong fallback.

dude this happens every year it happened last year to lance and it will most likely happen next just forget it

Hopefully this all works itself out so that some explanation can be found. And, if he did use drugs I wish he would just man up and say it. How do they explain the first sample if the second sample results are normal? Do they explain it by saying the screwed up on the first one, because that makes me feel good that they mess up and ruin someones reputation because they can't do their job right. I agree with Flyods comments too:

"All I'm asking for," he said, "is that I be given a chance to prove that I'm innocent. Cycling has a traditional way of trying people in the court of public opinion before they get a chance to do anything else.I would like to be presumed innocent until proven guilty -- "

They deffinetly know how to try someone in the "court of public opinion" just like they did with lance last year. Because one French paper brought out all kinds of accusations everyone takes it as fact.

yeah well when lance armstrong won there was some discussion on whether he cheated or not. i think it comes with be american

They compared his sample to all the french riders, thats like comparing a sports car to thoese little carts in the stores for old fat people.

they said that is a possablility. His testosterone was'nt high, but the ratio of testosterone to some other thing in his body was way off. and it is a possibility that it was caused by medicene

it is a proven fact that North Americans have more testosterone that Europeans, That is why we win wars and have to shave more that european women.

Hahaha, yeah damn the media and their flawed drug testing ways!!

Wait..... perhaps the media didn't actually do the testing and it was actually a proper lab, who maybe know just a little more about hormones than you?

I'm guessing they would already have measured a base level of testorone in his blood and it would be level above this that would raise alarms. I believe the sample in question was after his comeback breakaway, which was pretty superhuman.

Saying that, there have been mistakes before, he could be innocent, but it's cycling, so he's probably not.

i heard about this on espn and i was like damn...hopefully it was just those cordizone shots or whatever, cuz that could suck

true. he didnt have a high level of testosterone, but an extremly low level of epitestosterone, which scewed up the ratio. somthing as probley wrong with the test.

I've having a hard time understanding why every single news report is accusing him a doping. Does it make good news just to jump to conclusions about everything? It is possible that an athletes body can naturally create more of the hormone testosterone than other people. This sampling thing seems like it is set up so landis is doomed for failure, perhaps I'm not understanding everything. Sample A says yes, and if Sample B says no, the lab screwed up and ruined someones career. If sample B turns up positive, like sample A (as you would expect if his body normally produces more testosterone) then he is doping. There is no winning in this situation!!!

The ratio that was allowed in cycling is 6:1 (6 parts testosterone and 1 part epitosterone) it got lowered recentley to 4:1 and under is allowable. While usual ratios are 1:1 or 2:1. Any test results that are over 4:1 are automatically considered a positive test. I wish they would let us know what Landis tested as.

I read that it was like 12:1. There is speculation that fatigue and cortisone shots or whatever else he was taking could drastically reduce the epitestosterone which would make the ratio jump really high even having normal levels of testosterone. A lot of people seem to believe he is innocent, but who knows really. We'll see what happens.

yes it was about 12 to 1, but his testosterone level wasnt high at all. the epitestosterone was very low. these guys get tested every day, and this was the first time landis failed. it is likely that somthing was wrong with the test. its also possible that he was able to make up 8 minutes of time because of blood doping.

yeah i'm pissed. we finally get some respect from the europeans through lance, and then this asshole has to reinforce the stereotype that americans are bastards. and i was really hoping he'd win.
