Landing Switch..

When I land switch, my skies tend to slip apart and I lose almost all my speed to take off switch. Anyone have any suggestions? Also when taking off switch should I be looking at the jump the while time?

really focus on keeping your skis parallel. practice just skiing switch on easy terrain. you'll find a shoulder which you are more comfortable looking over. when approaching a jump, realize that your view is shifted slightly and compensate your position so you dont miss the jump. I personally square up right before I take off, kinda just feel it out. just do 180s off of everything and ski switch whenever you can. it gets really fun once you start to get better. hope that helps.

When you take off, turn your head in the opposite direction that you will be spinning. Once you get to the lip of the jump, you turn /whip your head in the other direction while popping to give you a solid rotation in the air, which you continue depending on the degree rotation you want.

When you are landing, it seems like you are pressuring your edges too much. Instead try to focus on absorbing the impact with your knees, and keeping the bases flat, which should help you to have a solid landuing and maintain speed. Also one reason you are loosing speed could be if the jump has a steep take off and a relatively flat landing. If you are coming down a lot more than you are moving forward, you will lose speed regardless of whether you are switch or forward.

^ Oops. Instead of 'When you take off' I mean, As you approach the take-off. Sorry about that. So, as you approach the take off look over the hsoulder opposite the direction you will be spinning, and then turn/whip your head from there.

I'm slightly duck footed so I have a similar problem of naturally landing in the the switch 'V' position. What works for me is bringing my knees up while in the air. I find it easier to extend the landing gear and keep the skis parallel this way.

my problem is my skis always fly off when i try and land 5's/// altho it may have been because my bindings were all fucked up...

when you're taking off switch, you're never going as fast as you think you are. so coming up to the lip, have more speed than you think you need (i cased a bunch of landings before figuring this out...)

i did a 540 last week and landed in a huge snowplow because i overshot the landing and it was real icy and my legs split apart and i skinned my penis

make sure you don't shift your weight forward or backwards when approaching and going on the lip of the jump, doing that right there will help a lot in terms of balance in the air

a natural tendancy (for me anyways) when taking off switch is to try to spin my legs around. Try spinning with your shoulders and head, just like you would for non-switch spins, and the rest of you body will follow. Also, popping a little to set the rotation also helps.
