Landing switch

I find it softer, because the impact is partially absorbed by the flex of your boot. your body in releation to the hill works like suspension, if that makes any sense.

Landing on the knuckle or landing towards the bottom of the landing switch isn't bad at all, unless of course you get kicked off the knuckle and fly down the landing.

i was raised skiing switch. its my natural direction. so really, switch is regular for me. the question i have is how do you land forward?

Landing switch is so much better for your body. Landing backseat going forward destroys your shins.... There really isn't a backseat switch. If you land too far forward your tips it and it just sorta pulls you down and you can still land it.

there is a backseat switch landing, kind of. you know when you land switch, and your leaning a bit back towards your tips, and you know your going to fall in a few seconds, but you cant do anything about it? i love it

^ do you mean leaning too far forward so you fall towards your face? you have to be really off axis for that to happen, and you have hands/arms so it's easy to ride away. If you mean land sitting on your tails so leaning back, then that's just wierd, and I find it hard to even get into that position.

^I think he's talking about when landing switch you open up or put your legs down a bit too early and end up leaning back a bit before you land (down the hill) then hooking your tail and somersaulting backwards.

For me I find this happens a lot on zero spins or big 180s...nothing like getting that feeling of being totally boned while 10 ft above your landing

haha ya that sucks when you feel yourself floating back and your just like "o shit this is going to hurt..."

I know its pretty hard to get shin bang when landing switch...not sure if thats there main reason for doing it thoe

switch for me because when i do 180s (bad ass i know) i land on my front tips, so the ski flexes and takes all the pressure/landing shock whatever you call that. but landing switch is usually scarier, especially on non-groomed jumps

2nd to last switch landing of this year i got straight owned...i hit this 50ft. kicker, maybe more maybe less. but anyways i dont know i got kind of off axis because i didnt know it had that much lip. landed and got straight killed. but i got up and threw a zero off of it next lap around the park and killed it. i ended it right there cause it was the last day...

I think switch landings just look cooler. In my opinion a good 5 looks better than a 7. It may also be easier on your body. Its the same reason that rollerbladers always do ones off drop rails or over stair sets.

I think the way human legs are built gives us more flex and ability to withstand larger landings when going switch. I feel that landings are much better when I go switch. Might have to be with the flex of the boot, but I bet it has more to do with the natural flexion of the knee.
