Landing Switch

ok, so whenever i try to land switch, i pop out of my bindings, and that destroys my brakes because they pop down and the backward motion bends them. Not that i really care about my brakes, but does anyone know how to prevent this. Is my DIN too low, or am i just leaning to far forward?

it is most likley a combonation of both. try cranking up your dins(thats what i did) and try not to land as tip heavy...u will get it eventually...for example...my pro shop reccomended a # 6, i am at #8 at my din settings

that's dangerous man. never go up that much, the shop's know what they're talking about if you check Level III skier. Just stick with what you have, and work on your location landing. not the DIN it could end ur skiing career on a regular crash..

ski shpops just recommend based on height and weight, if you feel comfortable putting the din up, do it

I am with Barney^^, I say maybe turn them up like to 6.5 and then work on landing switch. It is more of the landing problem than the bindings. I used to do it all the time.

You can adjust the binding a LITTLE without risking injury.

Most shops have what they call "Pro" Settings and will (with the signing of a release form) set your bindings much higher.

It is important to know what kind of bindings you have and where in the DIN range you fall. For example if you have Look p10s you DO NOT want to crank themn to 9 or 10...The springs will be overly tensioned and you will actually release more due to the lack of rebound and absorbtion of engergy.

Example - I ski Marker "race stocks" that go to 18. I am 5-11 and 175. My dins are set between 11-12. On my bigday pwskis I have em set at 13. Key is middle range.

I also ripped apart my acl/plc/mcl and had to have all sorts of cadavar parts sewn in because MY bidnings were pegged and they did not release during a high speed cartwheel.

If your release from landing switch it is liekly to be your form and not your equipment. Your feet should be hitting the ground at the same time as your "tips". If your releasing it is likely becuase you are leaning towards the jump.

yeah shops know what they are tlking aobut, work on your skills

if you download(ski movies) them your computer gets aids and buttfucks you

no they don't. i put level III and they said that "by law" they aren't allowed to set my dins higher than a 4. i got home and cranked my park skis up to 8s.

your shop is full of BS cause at my shop a level III=din of 6

if you download(ski movies) them your computer gets aids and buttfucks you

let me rephrase that. shops know what they are talking about, but they just can't always give you what's best for your type of skiing. park skiing usually needs a higher din setting than the regular "carving down the groomer" deal, and shops don't always take that into account.

just listen to the shops i have not had a problem with poping out and i have not changed my din. just practice and you will get it. i have faith for a fellow nser

As far as shops go, some have a knowledgable staff, others do not. It's like anything else.

In regards to landing switch. 1.) DIN. 2.) Overall binding functionality (i.e. is it working) 3.) Don't lean forward too much (i.e. you're scared you're gonna fall backwards--grab your ballsack and if you didn't know you had one, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when you find it).

Good luck. Destroy.

Your problem is half din, half skills. Crank the din up 2 and keep practicing. My din is usually set +2 from the shops setting. It helps but every once in a while your going to wind up breaking your breaks, and for that you need to buy spares.

it maybe that you're landing duck footed, with your skis on their sides which is why the brakes catch, work on squaring your feet when you land, and maybe tweak your brakes a little.

what kind of bindings are they? some types have seperate adjustments for a whole bunch of different stuff other than DIN, my salomons popped out alot cause the toe piece was too high and didnt hold the toe of my boot in place, check that out before the DIN is cranked

I enjoy picking my nose

just pretend you're on teles and will eat shit if you lean forward, landing straight up switch looks 50 times better than dragging your hands like a bitch

Good call. If you're using 810s I'd consider throwing them away. They are the most worthless pieces of shit.

If you are landing on groom you can lean back a lot further than you think. if it's powder you gotta lean forward, and either crank up the din like 1 setting or get different bindings.

Who runs a DIN of 6? that would come off on like any big hit. I run an 8.5 and my skiis rip off when I eat shit hard. Turn you din up and lean back.

word, or just crank up the dins, how big are u (weight and height) cause no matter your size (if ur a good skier over like 120 lbs) and you are skiing park then u should have a minimum of 7 din, dont dont want to go less than that

-------------------asp-------------------

im still trying to figure out how this guy is popping out of skis, my 1st day of every skiing twins i did a 180 with a din a tlike 4 and didnt pop out of anything.. so i guess u need to just keep practicing, make sure your comfortable with the landing then just nail it man

if you can land forward with out popin out then your deffinatly landing wrong, idealy landing switch you wanna land with your feet slightly staggard with your weight coming down centered. You can always use and increase in din if its too low, i like to ride my rossi axials at 8to 9 i used to have peice o shit tyrolias and i rocked them at 12 im 510 and 195

your landing too far on your toes. gotta get the confidence of landing more upright. most people fuck this up because the fear kicks in and they want to land kind of in a reverse snow plow to slow them down. it's the same reason why beginning hitting jumps land so far backseat and smack their backs. just gotta trust yourself.

stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

8 to 9 is pretty normal for a agressive skier at your wieght.

im 6ft 155lbs and i ride at 7 with look pviots, and i have only had releases when they needed to happen.

some bindings you might want to rock a little higher, i rode my s900 ti's at 8.5

some people ride really high, but if i fall i would rather have my ski come off, then my acl coming off my knee.

hmm... i am 6'2" weigh 145-150 lbs and ride my looks at 8 for park. they were at 6 and seemed to pop off quite frequently. do you think maybe i should try a 7?

yeah same here, but some people are just naturally bigger chickens than others. landing switch is nothing compared to hucking gainers off cliffs.

definitely crank ur din up to 8+. i also used to come out of my bindings landing switch. it was because i spun too fast and the last 180 would be all wierd so i was flying backward for a while and i'd overrotate a little. Just time ur landings better.

^yeah i have the same bindings, put the din at 7 or 8 and make sure the toepiece is down on the tounge of your boot by tightening the big screw in the middle of the toepiece. the wings can be tightened too by using the smaller screw on the one side of each toe piece. with a little bit of adjustments i was able to keep mine from falling off.

I enjoy picking my nose

thats not actually true, the shops are made to set the bbindings on what your weight / heught are, you can sue them if they put then up too high and you get hurt. they say just turn them up your selfs

I Smoke And Tweak Blunts

I ski mostly park and mostly BC and mostly groomers so 50 % park 50% groomers and 50 % pow. what shoudl i do . I hear that the chronic minis kill it in pow,,,, what should i get ?- calskierx

I rode those same bindings at about 12.5-13 and I still popped out of them all the time when there was no reason for it. I don't know why Solomon bindings suck so bad, but now I ride Looks P14s and have them at 8.5 and I've never fallen out when i shouldnt have.

i had that same problem last year...landed switch in the pipe and fuckin DESTROYED my brake. it was bent so that it was facing forwards. pretty much just get your bindings checked out. mine had a problem and the DIN somehow slipped so i was at like..3. i ride 10 now
