Landing flat or hitting the knuckle, what hurts worse??????

Flats the worst. Because when you land your body needs to absorb the impact over a distance. If you land flat that distance is much less then, if you landed on the knuckle and continued to fall down the landing.

depends on the jump and how bad you knuckle/overshoot, but unless its super bad, i would rather overshoot

i think there is already a thread on this though

Casing a big jump hurts sooo bad. Overshooting isn't all that bad, especially switch... unless you go way too big in which case it hurts more.

ya definitely i did this last weekend and its definitely worse liek knuckle sucks but basically flat is goin faster, farther out, and a lot farther down which makes it hurt a ton more

its way harder to overshoot badly whereas if u knuckle ur basically getting it as bad as it gets. so id rather overshoot a certain distance than undershooting that same amount

Hitting the knuckle and then landing flat

But overshooting is by far worse, I hate the feeling you get when you know you went too fast

I over shot a 50 foot jump this season and I was downed for like 15 mins. And the only reason I probably didn't get hurt was cuz I still landed on the last like foot of landing, and this year Ive been streching my ass off, to prevent injuries in that kind of situation.

I would rather overshoot unless its a gap obviously. or if were talkin like dumont style overshooting and falling 100 feet to ice. but in general definitely overshoot.

hitting flat obviousley the height from ur peak in the air is much higher to the flat then the knuckle of any jump plus the pressure of gravity makes ur acceleration rate go up much higher making ur total velocity much greater when u hit the ground plus ur way more scarred and have way more time in the air thinking"fuck im fuckin fucked"

both

derek spong= almost dead from undershooting

Simon dumont= should be dead for overshooting

tanner hall= broken ankles from undershooting.

but i have done both and i believe under hurts worse

Its all realitive. If you overshoot a jump under like 30ft it kills, but if you case a jump any bigger than that it is horrible.

I'd rather undershoot on the jumps I do than overshoot. Overshooting scares the shit out of me, and once I do it, I usually get so fuckin freaked out it takes me a few laps to want to try the jump again. However, on the really huge shit thats rarely around my area, I could see how either would be an absolute disaster.

its always worse to land compleyly flat because u are going further and higher so there will be more impact

Yeah bro, I know how you feel.

Last year I overshot a 60ft to flat and broke my back in 3 places. It gets really freakin sore now and I have to wear a back brace when I ski. Shit's fucked...

that and casing while rotating and getting shinbang then staying stupidly on the landing because it hurts too much to get back up but u know u have to get back up or else your more fucked than before and that my friends is a run on sentence.

yea i'd agree with the people who said it depends on the jump. some knuckles are super harsh and destroy you but some are real mellow and with soft snow aren't bad at all, and some jumps are on a steep enough slope that an overshoot can still be kinda absorbed and some landings turn completely flat which sucks. overall I'd say I'd rather knuckle though just because generally it involves less speed when you hit the snow so you are less likely to break yourself.

people who say they'd rather overshoot than undershoot have obviously never acctually overshot a landing. Like seriously how could you even think undershooting is worse? I mean ya there could be a jump where when you undershoot you hit a wall that's obviously worse but if we're talking about the same slope you land on for undershooting as overshooting, overshooting is obviously worse

you never hear of pros ending their year b/c they knuckled....its always overshooting. With the exception of thall and wilson -because they were gaps- with reg jumps like stepdowns and tables always take the knuckle. Overshooting not only ends your season, but you whole career-Lars veen. Overshooting is fuckin scary, i did it at okemo today 3 times and managed to stomp forward but jesus christ that shit is fucked up. that being said fuck you okemo!

flats of the pipe hurt the most. just think off it this way: you boost 10ft, then add another 18 for the wall, and you just fell 28feet out of the sky to flat ice. ouchies.

id so much rather land knuckle then completely flat, your going so much faster when you overshoot, and when you look down at where you wanna land and your still 10 feet in the air the ohhh shit factor is huge

overshooting to the point where youre landing on flat anyways is scary as hell, especially when youre on your back in the air and you know thats how youre going to land, i just remember being in the air and thinking fuck this is really gunna hurt

i dont know it totally depends on the jump. from my experience with over and undershooting i'd say undershooting hurts more because when you hit you knee yourself in the chest and then fuckin bounce down to the bottom of the landing. over shooting is deffinetly scarier though because you know it's gonna fucking hurt and you cant do anything but wait until you hit.
