Hey NS!just want people who know cars to help me with pro's & con's of both the cars, there personal reviews and other helpful tips!

don't be a douche!

don't argue about nonsense

Thanks NS!

A friend of mine has a discovery. It ran great, until it didn't. Thousands of $$$$ later and it is still a shit show. As enticing as they may be, I'd pass on a Land Rover.

Land rovers are British, many British cars break down a fair amount but Land Rovers are rugged warriors and should handle anything you throw at it and they are pretty easy to fix, cant say the same for range rover though they are just more complicated land rovers.

I wouldn't recommend either they have the weirdest setups on the inside like all the controls for everything are ass backward compared to american cars. Like the wipers, lights, cruise control, etc. Personally I'd go with something more american like jeep. Jeeps are great cars. The late nineties early thousand's models of their cherokee and grand cherokee are really great cars especially for the price you could get them at now. Great for the mountain, they're safe, a lot of room, bitches like them.

Best off-roader you can get, but you'd need a breakdown truck following you, cause they're just so unreliable.

They're great, but are very hands on.

In any case, i'd go dicso, just because the early versions used the defender chassis. (i think)

land rover discoery is one of the most un reliable cars ever. Its a fucking boss car but unless your prepared to drop a shit load into repairs i would not buy one.

The original range rover im nto to sure about reliability wise, but its a fucking boss car. My friends dad got one when they first came out in the 90's and wont give it up. Its so sick and amazing off road and in snow

This morning (christmas morning) my neighbour who is a hunter/gamekeeper in our village came to our door to ask for help, he parked his range rover on the side of a field while hunting and got stuck so i had to bring out my '82 jeep CJ7 and pull his piece of scrap metal out of the mud ....

didn't even have to put it in 4low to pull the damn thing out ...

long story short, if you drive on the road, get a roadcar

if you do offroad, get a decent offroad car, not something that sucks at both ...

i had a land rover disco and i liked it...

Until the engine blew up in the mountains.

they will cost you big $$$ in repairs. because EVERY FUCKING THING IN IT BREAKS.

plus it has a whopping 12mpg. i loved that part.

maintenance on these cars is spendy. find a good one owned by an old man with less than 100k and u shuld be good. just save up a speciall account for repairs ..... or you could get a jeep grand cherokee with a 4.0 straight six, 5.2, 4.7. or a ( 1998 only) 5.9 V8 . jeeps are just reliable as hell, and dont cost shit to fix. i drive a durango with the 5.9 360 ci V8 and my next car will be a 2004 grand cherokee overland with the 4.7 HO motor. i love the land and range rovers, jeeps are just more practical in my opinion . good luck . mery x mas

true. that was just an old jay-z lyric about the difference between a 4.0 and a 4.6 Range Rover, I wasnt actually telling you to 'beat it' haha

jeremy clarkson drove a ghettoey old range rover through bolivia, held up pretty damn good.

jeremy clarkson drove it through hell, therefore, buy a rangerover, nothing could possibly go wrong

Wtf? I thought i was the one who bumped this thrad. Anyways are the new lrs reliable? Im looking into getting an lr2

I'd get an older range instead of a newer LR2. You'll just be wishing you were in a Range the whole time.

Get an X3 imo if you need a smaller one.

I have a discovery G4 edition. it's an awesome car. great off-road and really heavy and stable. i love it... can't be missed (the g4 only came in bright orange). PM me if you have any questions... Land Rovers are rugged beasts that deal with anything. they are expensive to maintain after a while, though... we had a land rover discovery from '93 and sold it like 6 years ago. it was so expensive to maintain, but still a great car. we sold it to a restorer, and he's done a great job with it (last i saw were pictures from like 4 years ago). not sure if it's still driven but im sure if you turned it on it would run.

Range rover original over the disco but if you can find one go with the defender, that's the best vehicle land rover has made.

Get a Range Rover and conquer Africa from your airconditioned leather throne of British motoring excellence.

never owned a disco or rr but would highly recommend a defender, owned a 1998 model for 3 years now and it never breaks down, needs regular repairs to failing components though but parts are dirt cheap and if you're handy its a great vehicle to work on yourself. Superb in snow, i used to drive a forester and it puts that to shame. I can post a vid if you wish of it driving in snow last winter.
