Laid out backflips

searchbarred and to my suprise found nothing.

I have backflips down but they're all tucked and stupid looking. The obvious fix for my problem is to lay them out but i feel like that goes against the original motion of popping and thrusting your legs up. Any tips?

My backflips suck on snow but for trampolines and diving boards I just try to arch my back a lot and keep my legs extended but bent at the knees and just looking back a lot with your head and whip it around and the last secound.

I have no idea how it would work on skis but it would seem about the same thing.

start off by not leaning really far back off the jump like you are gonna huck it. just go off normally, pop, then arch your back and look back with your head as much as you can. it feels nice

as an olympic coach told me just pop off the jump correct, then poke out mr. happy, just make sure ur momentum is right...
thats all good luck man

i always find that I whip it around when i bring my feet up and over, so it seems wierd to pull them the other way. I know what your saying though. thanks guys

All you have to do is try to spot your landing a little earlier. Instead of using your arms to set the rotation, use your head and shoulders. Give it a dozen attempts and if you're not throwing really laid out backflips I'd be very surprised.

the only way i can do them is laid out but i just try to let the jump do it as much as possible but come in square and all that then just pop a little and lay back but keep your head lookiing for the landing also do it off a bigger jump because it takes a while to get around

keep your hands at your hips and when you pop immediately try to touch your head to the tails of your skis. sometimes i actually feel a tap on my helmet from my skis, thats how you know youre really laying it out.

I used to have layouts on lock. The last one I tried, I landed on my face. Felt like everything was right on the pop and for some reason the rotation just stalled. Kind of sketched about them now. That happen to any of you before?

that's the advice I always give people. pretend there's a hot chick bent over in front of you, and as you pop up off the jump thrust your hips forwards while dropping your head back. hold that position until your landing shows up, and bring your feet around for landing when it's time.

It's 100% in the hips. That is where your center of gravity is and how you get the momentum and layed out style. Throw your arms up and head back while at the same time thrusting your hips up at a 45 degree angle towards the sky. Eventually after doing a bunch, you'll relax more in the air and will slowly start to lay them out more. Plus it helps to do them over bigger jumps, like 20 feet at least to really get them layed out and lazy looking.

Do it normal until youre inverted, then put your hands behind your butt and let your legs extend. If you can see the ground, you can pull your feet back around when you need to.

Don't throw your legs up, that's the worst way to do a backflip. Just pop and lean the shoulders back, push the hips out to lay out. Makes the trick 100x easier than it already is and it's going to be hard to do them off of big jumps if you don't lay out.

Right, just make a small impulse with your shoulders, and strain your tummy muscles. then when you can almost see the landing, bring your knees in to finish your rotation......i ate shit several times cause i brought in my knees to late and caught my tips, but just try it in the powder first, even though a good shaped park kicker is easier.just give'er!

I did my first back flip this week. It was not the most impressive lookign but it felt really good. It happened really fast but from what I remember I just kind of leaned back and started to spot my landing as soon as i could. Next step is adding grabs to the mix.

jimmy greenleaf, i am not sure who you are, but you have a kickass last name and that is undoubtably one of the best looking backflips or flat 3's i have ever seen.
the next time someone says you need to grab a trick to make it look good, i need to show this to them.

You will know soon. Kid crushes so damn hard. He even did really well at a World Freeride Tour stop last year.

Just spoke to Luke. Posted a thread about it. He and Adam have
