Lack of snow in tahoe

Yeah, that's usually how I think about it. Then right when I start to really believe that the year will be total shit, a HUGE storm comes out of no where.

we're not doing so well here in Whistler either but with any luck we'll get some soon damnit

ah yep, ying and yang.. Never in my memory (35 years) have so many Pocono resorts been open so early with so much coverage.

For real!

I was just out at Big Boulder this weekend, and they had almost full coverage (not fully open yet, but no brown spots) with alot of the snow being natural. It was great skiing! It's too bad everywhere else sucks...

Hey, but the midwest is killing it!!! :D

I arrive on sunday, i expect it to dump tuesday, i havent looked at the forcasts, but you know what its like, it doesnt snow in little bits, its dumps for a week and chills our for a month,

I think the real problem lies is the temperatures are still to a bit too warm in the day to have 24 hour snowmaking, so things look bleak.

even tho it is sick on the eastcoast right now the west is always better pretty much every single year actually it is better every year so stop bitching you will get your snow eventually

relax holmes we are aware of this notion we're just getting antsy because that's why we're here, you know, because there is supposed to be lots of snow.

this is hilarious... just my luck. I moved from the Poconos to Tahoe for the winter haha... I shoulda waited a couple months!

boreal has the snow, but theres 5 billion gaper snowboarders that cut you off to side jump the rails. I found one good lip today, all the rest were side-jumped into submission, or to soft to get any pop.

i think a lot of the west coast has very little snow. mt bachelor doesn't have a lot and their opening was supposed to be november 21st. i doubt it will open for another 2 weeks, just cause we're supposed to have warm weather

colorado is just now starting to get dumped on, dont worry you'll probably get a huge december like last year

*January
But yeah its pretty much the whole west coast thats lackin. I dont wanna speak for others but im pretty sure Montana is pretty dry too, same with Jackson. I know up here in the Northwest i wouldnt consider it a completely dry November, its just the snow we did have got washed away so nothing is really even close to opening (although i heard theres a fun lil rail park up on Palmer). So its not just Tahoe. hopefully this winter there is better than the last two. Winter last year in tahoe was strictly just January and the year before that is worse.
Idk i didnt live there too long, but i lived there long enough to know that not getting snow early isnt really a bad thing. Just means more later on :)... Usually

I'm dissapointed, because right during halloween we were getting so much snow.. I was hopeful for another 2005 type mad-early season to get the ball rolling hard...

Lets just pray that we get some decent snowfall in mid-december..

Dave hopefully we get hammered by this storm on Monday. I think I might be coming up to Jay. On a massive storm its well worth the 3 hours drive North.

Since when does tahoe ever have early season snow? Just wait till after christmas then the dumping will begin like every other year.

Back in 2005 we had a day early in the season (november or early dec) that snowed 100+ inches in a 24 hour period. Watch the movie yearbook (or was it "the hit list"?) by MSP for the documentation of it.

it was right around christmas... pretty sure right after xmas. It happened twice that season actually. And it was more like 36-48 hours but still it doesnt matter. Tahoe gets some just rediculous storm every year that is pretty much unheard of for many places.
And BTW theres a place up in Tahoe that holds the world record for most snowfall in a 24 hour period, which was 76 inches but it was back in 80 something. I did some project on it.
snowforecast is saying nothing until at least the 10th for tahoe :(

I just decided a lil bit ago if it doesn't snow before the 14th, im going to CO and waiting out this dry spell

yeah dude you should do it... cuz you know that as soon as you leave, karma's gonna dumppp a pile of snow on the rest of us that stay!

thats kinda my plan, if i leave it will snow, then when i come back it won't be as depressing :)

yep, me and jason are going somewhere where a big jump is by dec 15 if it doesn't snow. I have a feeling that it will dump right before then tho.....

yeahh you are not welcome to come north and bring your dry tahoeness in our neighborhood!!...
Waitt a minute, it wouldnt make a difference :(. A lot of dirty up at bachy, although i can hear the rain outside as i type this.

Im heading to tahoe during x-mas break, hope it snows by than =(... Its ironic cause my hill (Perfect North Slopes, Indiana) has its earliest opening ever and coverage that we had in like mid jan of last yr.

i just bought a subscription to the Farmers Almanac because i am crazy bout the weather.. and this no snow thing is really pissing me off... and i wanted to see what they said about this season....

they kinda predict and show charts of how the next year will look... 80% accurate...

it doesnt look good for tahoe :((((

utah, CO WA all are getting snow... and if you look at the radar the storm is horseshoeing around us... very sad

some pow would be tight, but i will say that the madmade fresh up at boreal today felt surprisingly wintery all day... awesome!
