Labrador mountain?

Sorry if there are threads on this, too lazy to look.

I just graduated from Niagara University (Niagara Falls/Buffalo area) and I am considering relocating to Syracuse in the fall.

Can anyone tell me a little about Lab? What the park is like, general vibe, etc?

Seems appealing that it's about a half hour from Syracuse.

lab is a fun place! the park there is run by some dudes who don't know too much about the scene these days but they try. they hold 3-4 comps from rail jams to slopestyles every year and have a decent park with maybe 15 jibs/rails of which oyu can hit 6-7 in a line. or sacrifice a few rails for a 3-4 jump line.

toggenburg is also about the same distance from syracuse and also a fun place. i ride togg, and management really restricts the park (snowmaking, trail location, etc.) but its a mountain full of die hards all the way up to the top positions in the park crew and because of that a lot of the features are more expert oriented or creative.

labs park is pretty much the same from year to year, and toggs can be either worse or better depending on the year. i usually try to keep people updated in this regional about the two but there's your rundown.

yup. a day pass to togg for college students is $15 also, and a season is only about $160 i'm fairly sure.
 
I can attest to this. There was a change in park crew management a few years ago and it's been a slow transition. A lot had to do with the horrible season 2 years ago (and the sacrifices and compromises park had to take). It will definitely get better and I will personally see to it.
 
hey togg wasnt bad for cny skiing last year.

im from albany so i have season pass in vermont

15 for students is amazing... you dont have to decide beer buds or skiing
 
Labrador is a fun little mountain. They have a lift the goes to the top of their park that is great for hot laps. Probably one of the better parks in the area, but I haven't gone to Toggenburg yet. Me and my friend drive there when we get bored of Greek Peak a lot. I don't think their pass prices were to bad if you didn't have a season pass either.
 
rumor is there's big changes coming to lab this year. one of my buddies said the up top guy there is leaving and it's gonna be a lot different in a bad way
 
I used to ride lab a few times a season about 12 years ago. They were actually cutting edge then. Building some beastly jumps and had a few rails. I don't even think gore had rails at that point. They only had a flat rail and a rainbow when I started riding there(rainbow might have come later)

I remember them having boxes on the sides of the pipe, and the first inversion I saw was a ski patroller throwing corks in the pipe.

I rode there a couple years later and they had a small dfd, fdf, good size s rail, and a decent amount of other stuff. Last time I was there was probably 10 years ago though. Would love to make it back there sometime and shred/ nostalgia.
 
Song Mountain dude! I got some wild new features in store. Everything made for multiple approaches, option hits, all this. I'm tryina go hard this year. its gonna be like a skate park on skis.

Basically all of togs stuff is built by snowboarders, it could be good or bad depending on what you like to do. Like broto said the upper management of the mountain are holding them back. All of the rails are rotting into the ground. It seems to get worse every year. Thats basically all I can add without repeating.
 
our park crew is nearly half skiers. our set up right now is limited due to the space we have and the trails open but it was the second weekend. give it some time.
 
Yeah building a park without snow must be pretty hard, and I didnt mean to offend or anything in my last post.
 
i personally prefer lab mountain. i've gone there the past 4 years about once or twice a year and they're changing their park a lot, in a good way. they switch things up every few weeks in the park. this past year i went pretty early in the season in december and came back in february and they had a whole new park setup every time. one thing i miss is the final booter at the end of the park. everything else is still pretty nice. they usually get new rails every 1-2 years. the only downside is lift tickets are still like 40 bucks for a day.
