Laax/Flims v Engelberg

Looks like I'll be making a trip to the alps this winter between xmas and new year's (best time to go, i know :/). I'm looking for good freeride and hopefully cheap lodging. My buddy lives near Milan and thinks we should go to Laax/Flims or Engelberg. Any insight? I know Laax has a wild park but I prefer to freeride outside of the park. Steeps are bae (but snow dependent).

Any intel?

I've skied engelberg a lot, but I can't speak much for laax

Engelberg has steeps and stuff on piste but off piste in ain't to good. Big issue is the tourists, just sstay away from the titlis and you'll be fine, but it's good good slopes but not much else
