LA to Tahoe

Hey guys I was just wondering what the quickest way from LA to Squaw is? I'm in the northernmost part of LA, right where the grapevine starts, and also right where the 14 starts. Some people are saying take the 5 to the 80, some people are telling me to take the 14 to up by Mammoth and go up that way.
Whats fastest? And more importantly, whats easiest? I'm going up on Monday, and I already got stuck in the snow for 4 hours trying to get up to Mt. High a couple days ago, I don't want to have to deal with a bunch of nonesense.
Also hows the snow up there guys? I think I timed this shit right aaaaahaha.
 
go 14 to 395. It's a mellow straight shot drive through some beautiful country.
I reckon its prob faster too bc u can set cruise on like 80-90 mph and not get a ticket, as long as you slow down in the towns
