I don't like it either, but I remember someone from one of the two companies saying something that they need to do that so the can have longer sicker movies. I really can't remember where/if I actually heard this, so sorry if nobody said this.

 
^ya... pbp seems to give themt eh extra backcountry stuff and level 1 gives them urban shots.

It doesnt look good when theres shots that didnt make it into ten put into high five. Level 1 may not have the budget for big bc trips but they have always killed it with urban and thats one of the qualities that make L1P stand out so much.

So what it makes the movies better, MSP and teton gravity share footage too in subject to change cr's seg. is 70% the same as cr's seg. in ski movie 2. As long as they dont replay shitty footage then its straight.

Ok, RFA and Forward may have had a lot of shared footage, but come on....did you see Corey Vanular, Luke Van Valin, Jon Kozody, Travis Redd, Dylan Hood, Duncan Adams, Emil Coty, Charles Gagnier, or Liam Downey in X? Did you see Jon Olsson, Henrik Weinstedt, Mark Abma, TJ Shiller, Shane Szocs, Boronowski, Kristi, Grete, Niklas Karlstrom, Threadway, Sage, or Vinnie in High Five?

ok dude, there was vey little borrowed footage in X and High Five. Simon has a few shots, Peter had a couple, and DC had like one. the only borrowed footage that comes to mind is Peter O on the Triple Y rail at keystone. Oh, and his gnarly wreck on that box at Snowmass.

Last years PBP films were totally different. They had all different skiers in each. What do you expect, film companies to find different jumps/rails/ and urban features for every individual skier?

Who cares if they have the same shots, they are all different skiers, and everyone of them does things differently.

A benifit of the same shots in different videos is that you can make an opinion on who is the best skier because you watched them do the exact same feature.

It's more the fact that level 1 uses shots that PBP didnt use because they had a better trick or angle. ie. Dumonts 5 safety off the booter into pow in High 5 that was given from pbp (I assume) because they didnt need it cus it he did a sicker 5 with a critical.

I dont mind the overlap that much, but I hope they stop... I love both of there movies and will never choose just one over the other.

i think its sorta cool if there are diff angles of it cuz you can see the diff ways they choose to edit them...as long as they arent overdone

^agreed, and its also different now, guys dont bring one camera man on a bc trip with them, they bring 4 other guys who are shooting with other companies and bring there camera guys too

I agree that it absolutely blows. The problem is that it gives movie producers the opportunity to make their respective movies better. As long as they are able to do this, it is going to be extremely difficult (from the perpective of someone trying to make the best movie possible) for them to resist the temptation of using the same shots. From the experienced movie viewer's perspective this may take away from the quality of the film. However, this is probably not going to induce a production company not to share footage. This is why the ski industry should once again copy snowboarding and make an effort to film with crews of athletes rather than having skiers divide up their time to make several mediocre segments instead of one amazing one. Although this has already started to happen, I would like to see more of it.

hahaha, yeah 'freelowda'. It's great when the guys from MSP, TGR, L1P, and PBP all just chill and film the same backcountry booters all year. Good thing they're all best buds so that there's never any hostility or competition. It's the hot chocolate that bonds them.

Dudes, Johnny, the Jones brothers, Steve and Murray and I just got back from a little Hot Cocoa session. We're all gonna get together on Vail Pass and build some sick kickers for our movies this year. I'll be there with my camera, Johnny with a few of his, and the Jones crew and Steve and Murray will each be bringing 10 more cameras! Never before will we have ever shot a jump with over 20 unique angles. Its gonna be sick. Just wait for next year's movies... off the richter!

 
And there's a rumor that Warren might join the party with a fleet of Heli's equipped with High Def OmniMax cameras too!
