Kung fujas rocker dimensions fucked up?

ok so i went to the first store in my area that had the new seths and kung fujas and compared the rocker profiles to see if the kung fujas really did have longer rocker and kinda surpsriingly they dont. the seth clearly has longer and taller rocker. in everything ive read the fujas had 5/30 rocker and the seths had 10/20. so im wondering how k2 managed to fuck that up. kinda a pointless post just thought people should know.

that means for every 30cm of ski, the tip is raised 5mm, and for the obsetheds, for every 20cm of ski, its raised 10mm. so the obsedths is a shorter rocker, but more intense. the kung fujas rocker is longer but much less intense

i didnt but i dont understand how doing that would magically make the kung fujas rocker longer than the seths

well for all we know the KF could have more camber than the seth, giving it more of a rocker when its de-cambered.

when i rode these at a demo the rep showed me that when you press them together they are rockered, like everyone else is saying

This, and no its not magic but it works this way.. Dont know how much camber both have, but KF prob will have a bit more than the obsethed.. Also the rocker design is different.. on the KF I think the starting point of the rocker is more towards the binding while the obsethed has that point more towards the tip and is more intense.. but maybe we'll have to get schmuck awnser these questions :)

wow, it really doesn't seem like you guys get what 5/30 and 10/20 means.

the first number (5 on the KF, 10 on the Seths) means how many mms the tip/tail sits above the snow level while you have your weight on the center of the ski. (also can be easily seen by squeezing the centers together with your hands.)

the second number (30 on the KF, and 20 on the seths) means how many centimeters the rocker starts from the inside of the ski to the tip/tail. so basically, the KF has 10 cm more rocker length-wise, but the Obsethed has more rocker heighth-wise.

i always thought the measurments for rocker was when they still had camber, not when they are compressed, if so the amount of camber in my reno jibs from last years gives me a niec "rockered" ski when compressed

hmmmmm ........ maybe some companies do it different.

all i know is that they deffinitly do measure K2s rocker while being "compressed". corect me if i am wrong.

You're the only one who understands this apparently here, but you are a bit off. The 5mm is how far the ROCKER is off the ground when de-cambered, not the tip, and the 30 is how long the ROCKER is behind where the normal tip starts. A normal tip has about 5.5cm rise and is about 14cm long, so that means with the KF rocker, the tip rise is about 44cm long and 6cm tall when de-cambered.

And somebody said I'm not sure how de cambering the ski makes the rocker longer.... well go take your normal cambered park ski and look at the tip rise and length, then push the skis together and watch the rise and length of the tip rise grow! It works the same with rocker/camber/rocker obviously..not sure how else to explain.

all that make sense?

And last thing to note is that some brand's skis(EHP, Lhasa Pow, 2010 Gotama, even LL2s) have either all tip rise from rocker or almost all then a low profile tip. IMO this is just so much smarter, the normal tip shape on the end of rocker isn't going to help in pow, and that wierd angle it goes out at will hit crud and throw you around more than a ski with a tip that sticks out straighter, which will slice through. With Lhasa's(if I'm remembering right), it's pretty much a non stop curving rocker that isn't super long with a fair amount of tip rise, which some people say is best in pow. So the K2 rocker shape is kinda stupid IMO.

you might be right cuz last year when they drew diagarams for seth and bents the seths were flat underfoot. i thought they fucked it up and forgot to show the camber but i guess not. and also the 5 mm or 10 mm doesnt include tip just the length the rocker flat part is off the gorund. pretty sure every skis tips are like 5 mm off the ground
