Krampus: the movie

So it turns out krampus isn't a figment of Seth MacFarlane's imagination and this shit is REAL

For those who don't know who or what krampus is, he's a little demon man that originally rode around with Santa in the days of old and beat kids with a bundle of sticks when they would misbehave. So he made the lump of coal seem more appealing.

Anyway for true krampus fans like myself this film is long overdue. The real question here is the world ready for krampus? The krampus subworld I've been dangerously deep in for the past few years believes so, but I say nay. In my mind krampus is no worse than half the shit that goes on today. If a transgender sweet potato can vote krampus is ready for theatres. Discus

is it like...a dark comedy or supposed to be a horror movie? I can't tell from the trailer. But it looks good and I really wanna see it.

Horror I think. I was just insanely excited when I saw it that's all

a christmas horror thats something relatively new, I'm interested. The fact that it has Adam Scott and David Koechner did however make it come off almost as a twisted comedy in the trailers as both of those guys are mostly known for comedies.

I live in the heart of Krampus culture... it's a super redneck, farmer tradition. Basically, there are 2 forces during Christmas (Weihnacht) time: the good, represented by St. Nicholas and the bad, represented by the Krampus. If boys and girls are good, they are brought presents by good ol' St. Nick, but if they are bad they don't get coal in their stocking like in the USA... they get beaten and dragged to hell by the Krampus, which look like this:

The costume masks are hand carved from wood and painted, and cost anywhere from 1-5 thousand Euros. They are mega elaborate.

Every year in early December, parents actually invite the Krampus into their houses to scare the shit out of their young children (under 10 years old) and "encourage" them to be really good this year :) Talk about a traumatic experience for a little boy or girl.

The last moment of Krampus is usually marked with the Krampuslauf (Krampus parade) and at the end of the parade they (drunkenly) run through the streets beating anyone in sight with clubs and whips. Every year someone gets hit hard enough to break a leg or arm or something and it has caused the police to make the Krampus wear numbers so people can report them if it gets too out of hand.

This isnt my proudest moment but I first heard about Krampus from the show American Dad, looked in to and saw what you said. I didnt know what kind of people would do that to theirs kids but I can see rednecks worldwide doing that. Rednecks in America would do the same thing because they too have no idea how to control their kids besides with fear. Honestly after reading what they do to kids that shit needs to end 30 years ago.

In the Netherlands we have Black Pete, the helper of St. Nicholas.
