Kracked Skulls or Landyachtz?

so im thinking of getting a longboard. i would be mostly using it to get to school (about 3 km, mostly downhill) and cruising around, and probably some carving/ parking structure shit.

i was looking at the kracked skulls schimitar (sp?) and the Landyachtz drop carve wood. the KS would be about 220 shipped, and the LY would be about 280 (in store, they are based in my city). they both sound nice, but i have never owned one and i dont know which is better.

any reviews of either board?

i would recommend the landyachtz personally, but i have never ridden a KS but they do seem to have a solid NS fanbase. all the landyachtz i have ridden were amazing, so i would say go with the drop carve if you dont mind spending a little extra.

having not ridin the ks i would say landyachtz, but not the drop carve wood. get the drop carve fiberglass or whatever its called

My next door neighbours brother owns landyachtz and it's my birthday tomorrow...

Landyachtz

i own a KS m1 (the same as a scimitar) and my friend has a ladyachtz evo. the evo is like double the price of the m1 and i prefer my m1. its a much softer ride and it carves way smoother and easier. but the evo is still a really good board. its really low so its so easy to push and get speed. the evo is also a heavy/stiff/thick board while the m1 is really light/thin/flexy

if i were you i would probably go for the scimitar though. ks makes some really solid boards and i love mine to death. get it with some abec 11 gumballs and bones reds and you're set.

dude comparing a KS m1 to an evo is like comparing apples to oranges. there not in the same category at all. it shows how much you know about longboards... evo's are designed for going as fast as you possibly can on a longboard, while an M1, not so much. an M1 is more of a carving board and cruising board that can handle a bit of downhill. an evo is a downhill board, you can go as fast as you like and its one of the most stable boards on the market. for being a speed board though, its an amazing carving and cruising board.

i've never held an M1 in my hand but if it really is super thin an light, then chances are because its a drop through, that if it ever hits something hard, the nose is gonna shatter and you'll have no where to mount your trucks.

if you can get a spud for fairly cheap thats a pretty solid option. there really stable, easy to push, and they carve great. if you can get a spud, get it.

Not really, the Scimitar has bigger cutouts to allow people to run bigger wheels then they could on the m1.

My advice though, if money is an issue or your new to longboarding, grab a KS m1. They are cheap and super fun boards. I've never ridden a landyatchzboard but if money wasnt an option i'd grab one over the KS likely.

i have a 42" KS scimitar and it is the best board ive ridden. ive also ridden evos, dervishes, various pintails....and the KS owns all

i know they are completely different boards. they are almost like complete opposites. but they are both really good cruising boards and thats what the dude was asking about.

Don't get either. If your going to spend that much on a board, get the Loaded Dervish. Loaded makes the best longboards around in my opinion (atleast if you like flex in your deck). The Dervish is perfect because it is low to the ground so you dont get tired, and its really fun to ride because it has alot of flex. They have multiple flex levels so you can get a less flexy one if you are heavier. But if you want a really stif board, go with the landyachtz. I had a LY spud and it was fun while I had it, but it really wasn't what I was looking for.

I ride a LandYachtz so my vote goes to them. Really though I would buy local so you could try the board out first and see which you like best.

I had a landyachtz and the shit was way too cool. I got high and then it was run over by a car.
I have a sector 9 now, its pretty groovy. Only ting is its not my LY. S9's so much more clunkier.
