Hay shred heads just to let you know Kombi is giving a hand full of the worlds best a Pro model glove. My self and my good friend Dave Fortin are so stoked to be part of this. Im coming to you the NS crew for some insperation. What do you like or hate about your gloves features involving color, snot wipe area, Mitt vs Glove I want to here it all.

 
I like pipe glove style gloves, small, but still well made so your hand stays warm, I like grip on the fingers and palm but not the cheap kind like grenade that peels off after a few weeks...and i like simple colours like white, brown and black, but some intense neon colours are always sick too!

i personally love mittens.
but the one issue i have is that most mittens have that gaitor thing, that you pull tight. So if you could have a mitten with a glove style cuff that would be absolutely amazing.
and i think grippy silicone palms are overrated. Yes, they are nice to have, but really not neccissary. my favorite pair of gloves is a leather basic pair.

oh and highly waterproofed park gloves would be glorious.
 
Ya im backing the sold colors. and the low profile park mitts. but does cost play a factor. leather will cost more. I would like to make something we can all afford. but i do love leather. mmmm that leather smell rocks
 
you know that the ONLY way gloves will look cool is if you put any kind of marijuana reference on it...

i say you put that repulsive picture of you in the bathtub that you put as your profile picture a few weeks ago ON YOUR GLOVE!
 
Something low-profile for dexterity, but as warm as possible at the same time, a good grip is important (sticky rubber on the palm?) waterproofing and windproofing is key. Also REALLY strong seams, like triple seams especially on the thumb and index finger. The good ol' snot wipe patch on the thumb works fine for me. Bright colours are good sometimes, original graphics that don't look like other gloves. Also longer fingers would be good idea. Most pairs of gloves I have had, the fingers start halfway to the first joint on my fingers. Minimizing bunching of material in the palm would be good, and at the same time, leaving enough room inside the glove for warm air to circulate, so there is a layer of air as well as glove material.
 
I pretty much second everything he said.

Looking for a glove that is slim, but also very warm. Price would matter, but having different gloves at different price points would fix that. Lastly plain solid colours are nice, but wacky colours and patterns are also welcome....

My current gloves are Rossignol from about 4 years ago, and they are still bomb proof, a tad thicker than a pipe glove, but extra warm, good grips and a snot thumb. Try to dig up a pair of those, best gloves I've had in 5 years
 
I like pipes warm days but I hate pipe gloves with uncomfortable seams on the inside
mid weight glove for everythingelse. I love leather, low profile so its not bulky around your poles yet still super warm, and non cheap grip on the fingers
cold day mittens all the way but its tough to find a mitten thats super warm and not super bulky and still gives you good freedom. I've found a couple though
 
You could do a 3 in 1 deal, pipe glove removable liner with a larger mitten, but just make sure that the pipe glove is easy to get in and out, i have had a few were it was a total pain to get it back in the mitten
 
agree strong seams are really important. I kinda dig the brighter colours. Kombi has more traditional styling, something a bit more up to date would be sick.

Not a fan of leather gloves, take longer to dry, sometimes the leather breaks down if not well maintained. Seem to get more stanky quickly.

I-pod finger is a cool idea, The North Face call it E-tip I think.
 
wow it's been years since i've seen the JibCulture name/brand. i wonder how many kids even know or remember that company.
 
If you have the option for more then one colour, get a couple earth tones colours (black, borwn, blue, whatever) and a couple flashy colours (neons, pinstripes, etc) that way no one can say "i wanna buy that glove but i hate the colour".
 
so i am all about the leather gloves, they are soft and for the most part they are also warm. but the only problem is that they need lots of lovin. so i think a sick idea would be to make a leather glove but the palm could be a different material, something tough that could stand up to wear and tear. also the perfect amount of insulation so on those cold days, its not so cold.
 
make gloves AND mittens if your gonna make mittens. cuz i have claustrophobic fingers hahahha they dont like mittens
 
idk i had these burton mittens once and they had gore tex or something super water proof on the plams and they were fucking killer. they had removable liners for the warmers days and nice a nice snot thumb. anything close to this would be epic. o yeah simple colors and some flashy ones would be sick to.
 
I'm just throwing this out there. . . but has anyone ever thought about having air vents in gloves? my hands always get hot and sweaty, so it would be cool if a small breeze was allowed through. I guess this would primarily be aimed at park/spring gloves, but my hands get hot on pow days too.

Also, super grip in the grip is always awesome, like a lot of dakine gloves.

Maybe a synthetic finger nail that you could pick your nose with too?
 
In the mitts I always get, there's always a waterproof layer. it really defeats the purpose though because it doesn't let any moisture out either, so your hands get all hot and sweaty and after a while the gloves smell terrible. so no waterproof layer in the mitts.
I agree too with the thin low profile, really simple mitten with a nice cuff
 
Definately have a very large and very smooth snot wipe. Mitts are awesome but maybee try to make it less huge and pouffy like most mitts tend to be. definately some hardcore nudity on the palms that's a must have
 
I like gloves that are light, breathable, and very water proof, I dont need a lot of insulation, and if it rains I dont want my gloves acting like sponges
 
a low profile mitten would be epic, some bright colors a nice grippy palm thats water wind proof and strong seams would also be dope yay mittens
 


waterproofing

it s the key.

i hate it when i hake up jumps or rails and my hands get wet because i m carrying my skis.

And some nice colors too.
 
for size, they should be fitted, but not as tight as pipe gloves. somewhere in between. Maybe 1 cm of thickness around the fingers and palm.

Material: Leather palms and fingers/tips. Goretex top.

Cuff: Should be tight around the wrist with elastic stretchy that is tight enough to keep moisture out, but not too tight so that it restricts being able to get your hands in. Also it should have an elastic strap that Velcros closed. Use the most durable velcro possible.

The liner should be micro-fleece. Make it tight inside so that it doesn't get twisted and bunch up. Liners that bunch up really suck.

It should also have a secondary cuff that is made out of fairly tight elastic, and this should dangle about 10 cm from the glove, and be attached by some webbing or adjustable string. This way you can put on the secondary cuff first thing, and then just let your gloves dangle while carrying gear etc. This way you will never lose them. This strap should be removable via a very secure metal clip in case the customer is not a fan.

THe ipod/iphone finger tip is a good idea. Maybe if you had a micro-zipper that was water-tight super sealed, but that was designed so that it was still easy to undo and re-do with you other gloved hand or your teeth. But this is a risky addition. It's also easy to just take off the glove when you need to control your gadgets, especially if you're wearing the secondary cuff-- outlined above-- that prevents you (by letting it dangle) from having to hold the glove under your armpit or in your lap (if on the chair) and risk dropping it.

All seams should obviously be super sealed, but also tripple stitched. You could also consider putting a reiniforced bit of leather or even hard plastic (like downhill longboard racers rock) under the palm material for those of us who ride rope tows during the early season jib park days.

colour should be brights mixed with neutrals. Maybe white leather palms, black gortex on top, and then a bright forest/herb green between the fingers.

vents are useless if you opt for a highly breathable goretex for the top/backhand of the glove.

you could also consider inclduing a tight, form fitted marina wool liner for extra cold days. The word wool is usually assocatied with scratchy, 1800s type stuff, but Marina wool is extremely comfortable, doesn't smell, isn't synthetic, and wicks moisture better than synthetics. It's also pricey, but a small form-fitted liner shouldn't increase costs too much. Make it as tight as possible (like surgical tight) without sacrificing any comfort.

definitely have goretex. it keeps the inside dry no matter what. even if snow gets on the inside and melts, the glove will dry it out so fast.
 
i think you should try and make a dope ass mit..bring it in style.bright colours...low prlofile sounds good as well as a nice smooth nose wiper.
 
two zippers on the backside of the hand, one on each side. when open you'd get some cross-flow air-flow for venting. and when closed, you could shove a hand warmer in that little area. unless this has been done?
 
man I dont know why glove companies havent done it yet but an extra piece of material between where your thumb and index finger are is so clutch and at teh base of the palm.

us skiere with our poles and shit put a lot of abuse on those parts of the glove and to have a bit more material there would make them last that much longer.

solid colours for shit dont really like gloves with patterns on em.
 
something real durable that wont shred from carrying your skis and warm so you wont have to spend extra cash on hand warmers, needs to be a good solid color and should have multiple choices like blue green purple red etc.
 
im talking about two zippers on the outside. that would lead to a little compartment (separated from your hand by a thin layer of mesh).

open zippers = heat flow out

closed zippers (plus handwarmer) = keeps fingers toasty.

has this been done before?
 
i always wanted to see a Sloth style mitten/glove so the pointer and middle finger are in a mini mitt, and the pinky and ring finger are in another mini mitt, and then there is just a thumb hole, just like the hand of a three toed sloth
