Knowing when you are good

thats a dumb question. If you ski to tell people you are good you are in it for the wrong reason. I dont have any video footage, have a rare picture, and am completely unsponsored. If people want to recognize the skills I have and say hey good job, then awesome Im all for it, but I ski and progress and get better because I love skiing more than anything in the world. Id much rather ski a full fun day lapping parks then having to wait and set up for a shot just so I can make a 2 minute show off video. I know Im good so I dont care if other people think so.

You know your good when you know you love skiing and will give anything to go skiing

As long as you are out there having fun, killin' it, and makin' some rad friends than your better than most people who don't ski for fun

but that's just me

these tricks:

270 pretzel 270 on a down rail

450 off both ways

cork 9 mute

switch 7 critical

flat 5 japan

left and right 7's

9 in the pipe

landing switch in pow

handdrags

rodeo 7

screamin seman

double frontflip

double daffy twister spread

quad kink urban rail

mad butters

then you are good

nahhh just kiddin

dumbest thread ever, but i was bored

yea you must have low self-esteem

you are on the fast track to becoming a new Yauch but it depends, when you can do a switch cork octo 14 you are good at park, when you can ski comfortably and stomp a 345 foot cliff in the pow you are good, and when you can beat ted ligety in a slalom race you're good at racing

honestly, it's not the type of tricks that you can do

it's how steezy you can do it. if you look like a blumbering retard trying to do a 360 that you land consistently but lacking in style, then no one's gonna care for you.

I know what hes saying, i mean people at my school always come up to me and go "hey dont you ski, are you good". I never know what to say, i could say im not, but then i feel like an ass cause i sound sarcastic no matter what. If i say yes, well thats just obviously gay. So i always go "AY BITCH, IM THE BEST, I SKI CIRCLES AROUND THE MOON, TANNER HALL, YOUR MOM, AND THEN I SKI BACK IN TIME AND SKI AROUND YOUR NEANDERTHAL ANCESTORS. NOW GET THE FUCK OFF MY DICK BITCH"

word. i have like almost no video footage and a couple pics. i am not GOOD compared to a lot of people, but i'd say i can hold my own pretty well anywhere. but really, who cares?

just be humble about your self, invite them skiing, and let them judge you for themselves. the correct answer for almost every one of us is 'i could be better'

You shouldnt ever think your good because you should be humble, and go out and kill it and not proclaim your talent everywhere

cuz you get all the chicks dumbass!!

and now for a serious answer...

its all with the level of your confidence and skill and your own opinion....

depends on how much fun your having, if you smiling all the time and having a whole bunch of fun constantly then your pretty much pro, if your a mr. grumpy pants taking everything serious and being totally hardcore mean cocky badass, (simon dumont) then you suck.

humility is a completely different from thinking you're 'good'; for me it is recognizing that there is always something more to push for, some way to go out and be better than the day before

i'm saying to stray away from the line of thought that even classifies yourself as a particular grade of skiier, and if people ask you how good you are, let them judge for themselves

(With the exception of Cedric's thread)..theres nothing worse than claiming.

Do it for yourself man, not so you can tell other people how good you are. If you are good, then people will notice. But if you tell them how good you are, then people will think you are an arrogant cock.

the trick is to tell people that you really suck (I see you've already figured this part up), and that you've only been skiing for a little while. Then when people see that you're halfway decent they'll be more impressed with you than with the "good kids" who have been skiing since they could walk.

am i the only one who feels really uncomfortable when people say that u are good at skiing.

like random kids come up at school and are like, o i saw u skiing, ur good. its like "uh, thanks" and i just feel like a complete dousche

^ Its better for it to be like that, than

"Oh thats the guy that walks around talking himself up as a pro skier..."

haha yeah... and when people ask you how good you are..."are you a beginner, intermediate, or expert?"  "uhhhh....."  that always happens to me when i'm at the hospital.

Yeah, seems anyone who is actually decent at skiing is humble about it, then people who only go skiing once a year or so seem to talk themselves up and be like "yeah dude, I'm pretty good" Then you ski with them and they're shit.

There are 3 tricks you need dial before becoming pro, or excpect to have a chance at being sponsered

1. tip stands

2. lui kangs

3. worm turns

yeah i feel really awkward when little kids tell me that to, and when on the chairlift they ask stuff like "are u good" and its like, well how am i to answer this?
