knitting hats

Well im trying to do this, but i really have no idea how. I can do the basic knit stitch, but i dont know how to end off the knitted piece, or make a hat with stylie earflaps, can anyone help?

 
my friend showed me how, i'm slowly getting the hang of it, sirjibsalot has some really cool ones of his own

i've knitted a hat before...it looked like shit, but i did it. there are some ppl on this site who do make their own hats though...

My friends grandma knit me a hat, its nice. All I had to do was buy some string.

I make all my own hats, wristbands, headbands, whatever. I crochet, its way easier than knitting. just go find some old lady in your neighborhood, and ask her to teach you how, thats what I did.

uh, jon olson can knit, but good luck finding him. i want to learn how, its something good to do during long car/bus rides and during the summer. plus knit hats are the shit. i think i'll just buy one and pretend that i made it myself..haha.

Whoever asked what the diff between knitting and crocheting is.. knitting goes back and forth in rows and is a different stitch, crochet is just one continuous row. If you guys want me to knit you a hat, lemme know, i'll mail em too, but you gotta pay me for the wool and postage....
