Knife

Remember that in most states knives have to be less than 3.5 inches to be concealed. If you carry any knife with a blade larger than 3.5 inches it must be worn on the outside of your person in plain view. This is measurement only applies to the blade so make sure that on the knife you buy, the end of the blade is clearly visible. My friend has a horror story where he was pulled over by the cops. He had a cheap folding knife in his pocket that was supposed to be legally concealable, however the blade continued all the way into the handle. The cop then decided to use this technicality to say that was illegally concealing a weapon and decided to search his car where he found a quarter bag of weed. Be smart and realize that you are buying a tool that can be used/considered a weapon.

yeah my friend had a really sick benchmade, you could tell it was high quality just holding it. too bad he lost it

kershaws arent the best out there but theyre a pretty good value, and they have a spring assist opening system on some that's pretty much a legal switchblade. i have one and its sick. im not sure if they still make them but i dont know why theyd stop.

u can even filet the filet!!!!!!

The thread really ended with this comment. Do it, get a Benchmade, you won't regret it. I got a 556S myself and it's the best trade off between size & utility, also, the blade locks itself in place when you open it, which is always a nice feature to have (and one of the reasons I got it).

Check it out here: http://www.benchmade.com/products/product_detail.aspx?model=556. The S model is nice, 'cause it's got a serrated blade.

SAC has had Columbia River Knife and Tool Company (CRKT) knives many times. I have a couple of M16-13Z that I bought for $17.19 each. They are extremely high quality and have a clever design that allows quick, one-handed deployment without spring assist. I highly recommend these knives, and would posit that other CRKT knives are similarly well constructed.

Drew - you should download the feature that shows the current SAC deal on a small toolbar in the browser window border - it is manna for the true gear slut.

nah. different company, same name. I have a folding one with a 3 1/2 in. blade. nice for camping and general use plus I can flick it out with one hand very quickly and easily when I want to scare someone.

i agree i got a m16-13z and its by far the best knife ive had, but definatly check out crkt's other knives. they have some really nice ones.

you want a knife for your truch and "other things"? if its for self defence buy some fucking bear mace, pulling on a kinfe on a mugger will either get you stabbed or jailed. But if you want it for general camping and shit I'd say get a river knife

I forgot to mention, there is a Cabela's opening in CO in 2008. It will be in Wheat Ridge, and open late summer 2008.

the benchmades are real nice. i think about 50 bucks. they can be flipped open and closed with one hand, and feel like they are well made.

My friend is getting me a riot shotgun. I can't wait!

HAHA! Sorry for my typo. I know it's one "L".

Cabela's is so much better than Bass Pro.

See many riots that you have to break up??? Just kidding actuall I have a mossberg 590 that I guess you could call a riot shotgun, I want a new barrel so I can hunt with it.

On the knife front though I would 100% go with the half serrade(sp) as it looks like your just looking for a general use pocket knife. Some stuff in life can get a little tough and that's when you go to that rugged serrade to really get the job done.

Might also do well in picking up a means of sharpening a knife if you don't already have one.

living in florida, why in the world does a young girl need a knife and/OR a gun?

i imagine all old people to be chillin down there.. gotta fend off the aggressive elderly?

thats just my two cents though

I have a CRKT point guard thats about 4 years old and is still in excellent shape so id definitely say that they are great quality knives.

I must say I get comments like this from stuck up ladies a lot. I usually just tell them to imagine someday you are in a horrible car wreck and your stuck inside by your jammed seatbelt, then I'm sure you would love to have something sharp nearby. It's a tool not a weapon.

Oh that's for the knife not the shotgun.

Oh, I have this knife that is MADE to cut seatbelts and such in my glove compartment. Don't get me wrong, having those types of things can be extremely helpful someday..

But, no need for the stuck up comment, just because I don't think buying a 6 inch blade is necessary doesn't mean I'm some snobby bitch

You've obviously never been to the central part of Florida.

I have a gone for defensive purposes. If you have heard seen what I have seen then you would definitely change your mind. Have you heard about all the missing women these days?

As for the knife. It's a tool. If I need it for defensive purposes then there I go.

BTW I'm going with the Camo one. And yes, I'm getting a rod sharpener.

Surprised no one has mentioned Coldsteel that I can see. They are like 400 dollar knives, but are probably the most reliable and well built knives anywhere.

i got a sick CRKT knife off sac for like 35$ was 100 i saw it on there again for like 25 keep an eye on sac
