does anyone know any real good excercises that can strengthen your knees for skiing? I havent had serious problems with my knees yet but they do feel weak, any help would be GREAT

i know a few just becasue i had to take physio for my knees last summer...lay on your back and have you right led bent like u are going to do a sit-up....then you take your left leg and put it straight up, while pointing your toes down to you...hold you leg with both your hands and try to pull you tes towards your head without bending you knee because it should be straight...count to ten and then switch and do the same for the other leg...do this 5 times each...

another one in lay on your stomach and pull one of your legs up and grab it wth your hand and flex it towards your bum-bum....this will work on your knee flexability...again count to ten and switch your hands/legs to work the other leg...

and the other ones u need weights for so dont worry about those...also always stretch your lower body and do lots of running to build up your shins/calves to help prevent shin splints and do lots of joggin/running/sprinting...HAVE FUN!!!

another way to stop shin splints is to ice them after a hard day of skiing

straight leg raises which are pretty self explanatory, jus do them really slowly to up the difficulty and lots of hamstring streches will help you stay pain free

Republican and proud of it.

Do all kinds of leg presses, squats, ham curls. These exercises strengthen the muscles around your knee making your knees stronger. Do the squats and presses properly (dont go too low) otherwise bad for your knees.

yeah if you go too low for squats it hurts soo bad

I just had an recunstructive surgery on my knee adn physio was way to slow because i wanted to be ready for the season. So i just hit the gym on my own and started doing squats. My knees can take a beating now. If your knee hurts when going too low you should try less weight because its not always how much you can do but sometimes how much of one weight you can do.
