Im sure many of you have gone through knee surgery. I tore my acl and I have to have it worked on. I guess the acl isnt a big deal, but im really nervous. Im just wondering how fast your recovery was and how your knee feels now.

it was 6 months for me the first time. played a full season of soccer. i couldnt run or jump for 3 months. but i tore it again on my trampoline about 2 months ago and had surgery 2 days after it happened. i can ski in may.

I hear 3 months 50% and 6 months 80%

yeah way faster. 6 months 80% for sure. i remember trying to sprint down the soccer field and my left leg moving a ton faster then my right and falling. man good luck with all that. all i can say is keep your head up. think positive shit.

Everyone Ive been talking to says that eventually their knee is 100% normal after surgery, the only downfall is that it takes a while.

i did my acl, mcl, and both miniscus all at the same time. its been 1 year and i am not 100% yet but i am skiing hard and i wasnt supposed to do any sports for the rest of my life.

it'll take a year at least for 100%

i had mine removed and rebuilt in two seperate surgeries

i had acl and meniscus surgery mid october, last year. i had it done orthroscopically with a cadaver tendon. my leg muscles are almost as big as the other side now, the tendon is still pretty weak, since it hasnt even been 3 months yet. my advice is to blaze along with your painkillers, the two drugs mix very well together. and you will be stuck in bed for at least 2 weeks so you might as well be high as a kite.

stuck in bed for 2 weeks? man i was off painkillers 2 days afterwards. and walking normal a week afterwords. ive done it twice and its been the same both times.

its really not that bad. it kinda sucks for a while when your knee is all swollen and you cant bend it all the way. and wearing the surgical brace for a month or so sucks.

i had arthroscopic surgery last april, they used part of my hamstring tendon as a replacement for the ACL.

its been 9 months since surgery and im ripping as hard as ever. i dropped a 15 foot cliff a couple days ago and landed no prob on the knee.

i only wore my brace for 2 weeks.

i was just wondering, how many of you who have had knee surgery wear a sports knee brace when you ski now, or wore one for the first year of skiing? i wear one, the surgeon suggested it so i thought better safe than sorry.

I have a brace, I use it because i don't want to take the chance of tearing my ligament again.

What sucks is the 24hrs after your surgery when you have the tube that drains blood, sticking in your leg, worst pain I have ever felt.

try a magnectic knee wrap made by Nikken. I thought was a bunch of bull, but it really helped with the swelling and healing! night and day difference

i dont remember pain but i remember it slidding 3 inches out of my leg and just feeling all gooby slithery.

As soon as possible get into a sports rehab center and then go EVERY day. It'll hurt like a bitch at the time, but it'll speed up the healing process.

Look up Steve Gay in the Bozo phone book or call the hospital/surgery and ask for him to give you a call.

He's a 1st assist in the O.R. He's had both knees done and he's that idiot on

220's at Big Sky doin about 100 mph top to bottoms on tele's. Tell him Whip sent you and I said he ski's like

a pussy!

Thanks for the replies everyone. Im going to go see Dr. cambell, he works on the u.s. ski teams knees. I suppose everyone is different, but I keep hearing conflicting information about the recovery after surgery.
