As soon as I put pressure on my knees, like when im bendig down for an ollie for example it hurts like hell just bleow my kneecaps. Same thing when walkning slowly up stairs. Feels like its a string or something right there. Ive been treating it with antiinflammtion cream but it doesnt help. Ive exrayed my knees but they didnt find anything. (at least not my noob doctor).

I´ve been resting from my training for a long time now but as soon as I try to skate or go to the gym i hurts like hell.

PLease help me. Any suggestions are welcome.

why don´t you stop bitchin and think before you write. Of course this will fuck up my skiing as well. But we dont have anyy snow yet so took skatin for a close example

sounds like patello femoral syndrome. i have the same thing. basically your kneecaps are out of place because of muscle imbalances. go see a physio, they'll give you exercises to fix it.

I still need to get surgery done on mine, doing it soon hopefully, but anyways get an MRI and it will tell you exactly whats wrong it and that way you can get on it and fix it...

If its acl or meniscus, then there is no cure but surgery. Your noob doctor should have caught it with an mri. Although, sometimes they can't see it until they go in (surgery).

If it is patellar tendinitis, then you just live with it. It is just inflammation caused by the patellar tendon rubbing against stuff. You can wear a strap below your knee that alleviates it. I don't know what it is called, but sometimes i see people running with them on.

i'm with those guys...patellar tendonitis, osgood schlaters disease

dude i have the same problem... for 1yr 5 months my knee has been gradually getting worse. just sitting here its hurting and ive had x-rays but the bones are fine. i cant get my doc to tell me to get an MRI, cuz he is also newb.

im about to jsut go to wellington orthopedics and get the best knee doc in the state.

the newb doc gave me anti-inflamtory (arthritis med) for it and i never really took them, cuz ITS NOT ARTHRITUS dumb fucking doc.

i tore my hip flexer 7 years ago on the left side and my right knee kills now 5 years later. i can clearly feel the muscle is barely their on the left so i think my right leg took over all pressure and is now taking the toll. my knee bends in and i cant bend it out or it kills, and its only on the right. i sit on my left ass cheek all the time because the muscle is gone so i guess i shit that way.

for some reason the doc thinks im a little kid that doesnt know anything so he wont even look at it. yet i know exactly what the problem is yet i cant get anyone to do anything about it.

doctors these days, who needs em

im an athletic traineing student @ uconn and its most likely your acl or pcl. its not your meniscus cause that runs laterally on your knee. your acl and pcl make an 'x' behind your knee cap but if your bending down and it hurts, definetly and acl. could be a strain, could be slightly torn. ive seen athletes have a minor tear and just pop ibuprofen. an X ray wont show anything, go get an MRI and itll come up.

First, get checked by your physical therapist. If you don't allready have one, you need to get one because if you ski and skate you will be visiting them often. Second stretch every day all the time. When you're just standing there stretch, your hips too because that's where the tendons that run through your knee are attached. I used to have really bad knee pain, and I worked out and stretched with things my physical therapist told me to do and now I'm back to sending it to flat without any pain.

Jeff: Hey Geoff, did Ronny tell you not to wear any boxers so he could rape you better?

Geoff: No, I just put my boxers on backwards so the hole is in the back...it's alot easier that way.

^^ hey troublemaker... did u read my post above yours?

ive been having pain for 1yr 4 months or longer and ive got a good idea why but noone will listen, since im no doctor.

i played football 8-12 grade, and baseball all my life. was very active as a teen. but now im 20 and i sit behind a desk 40hr/week and dont do many sports or physical activity much anymore. i also workout alot, atleast when i have time. but nothing with my lower body really, focused mainly on upper body.

i already had the acl reconstruction and had maniscus repaired, now they say most of my cartalidge in my knees is worn down and torn anyways, so i pretty much just have shitty knees. if only you can get prescribed medicinal weed for knee pain

if it hurts just below your knee cap, not underneath, but right where the top of your shin bone hits your kneecap then you have patella tendonitis and it is a bitch to heal...you might notice a lump at the top of your shin...That is where your PCL connects to your shinbone. That is what holds your knee together esentially. The tendon is connected by a thin bone skin tissue and that becomes inflamed and can tear. I highlyt advise against doing anything to reagrivate it because like tendonitis, it will not go away unless you totally demoblize it...

I have the same thing 2 years ago from landing backseat on a 3 and trying to pull out of it all monkey steeze. Thats what partially tore it and i was done for 4 months before I could do anything active again...Pushing my skateboard was the worst thing for it...stay off it.

go to a orthopedic surgeon. doctors dont really know shit about knees or joints for that matter. you need to get an mri and go to a specialist to really figure out whats wrong and how to fix it. also dont use cream take alive becasue it has naxproxen in it.

ligaments dont have nerves in them. therefore they dont hurt. when you tear one its what other damage you do that makes it hurt. like meniscus and bone contusions. some people tear their acl's and they don't even know it. if both your knees hurt its not your acl or pcl. your quadriceps (thigh muscles) run into your patellar tendon (basically your kneecap and the hard part just below it that holds it in place). so whenever you flex your quads to go down stairs or bend down, they pull on your patellar tendon, therefore causing pain if something is messed there. first step is to see an EXPERIENCED physio, if he can help you great, if not then get a referral to a good sports med and get an mri. remember mri's are not always accurate. i know all this from taking athletic therapy at university and my own experiences with knee injuries.

the other day i had a similar problem, when i walked upstairs i felt like there was a ton of pressure in them and it was about to burst, it was ontop of my knee tho,the next day it hurt more so i put a good kneebrace on for the whole day and now i dont have the problem

hey skibunnie, what school did you go to? ive been also looking into some type of premed program/sports medicine that deals with orthopedics but i would like to look into sometihng more skiing related but keeping the medicine apart of it at the same time.

yeah, seriously get it checked out, knee problems really suck. I spent 10 weeks on crutches cuz of em, it might be somethin small, but to be safe check it out, so close to ski season u dont wanna risk it

I hurts more in my left knee than in my right. The pin is concentrated almost on/under the knee cap. My doc says its not osgood schlaters since he didnt see any thing on the exray. Perheps will give you some more help.

Yea knee problems suck. The guy I ski with most of the time got a miniscus tear from hockey something like 4 years ago. All the doctors in my town are retards and wouldn't admit it was a miniscus tear although my bud said that it was a miniscus tear right from the bat. Finally he went a specialist down in Vancouver last year, and got surgery for the tear. One of the major problems he had was that there was tons of scar tissue in there. Anyways they fixed his knee pretty good and pulled out as much of the scar tissue as they could. Last week his knee acted up again and now it's swollen like a melon and he says it hurts like a bitch. He gonna have to get surgery again he thinks, so that really sucks because it's right before the ski season. And if the first doctor had realised it was a miniscus tear he wouldn't have gotten this problem in the first place. He hasn't been able to run in years. I hate doctors in my town.

Ive heard everyone of you give the guy different advice telling him what is wrong with his knee. But in reality none of you are doctors or really even have any clue what youre talking about, even if you were doctors I highly doubt you could diagnose knee pain online....Pretty stupid if you ask me.

The only good advie this guy has recieved was to go to a doctor who specializes in knees or joints and have them do an MRI, or you could continue to take your medical advice from newschoolers.com.....hahaha

I nailed my knee on a Diving board from high up, couldn't walk on it for the longest time. It still hurts when i bend or do anything too crazy. I haven't skied on it yet, but im anxious to see what happens when i do

If you have pain below the knee, it might just be a weak tendon. Maybe try doing things to build up your quads and tighten the tendon, like riding a bike, for example.

^and drop squats. oh and if youre uninsured, which some people are, MRIs will run you a couple grand... what i love is when the PT says, well theres really nothing wrong, so do these excercises everyday for a couple weeks then you shuold be good to go... and then a couple weeks later youre still in pain... just like you ahve been for the last couple years... and youre too cheap to go to a doc... oh yeah, most doctors are fucking stupid and have no idea whats really going on... i dont go unless somethings really wrong... and basically theyve done a good job not killing me, thats about it.

Yeah thats true....doctors go to school for like ten years but youre right...they are all stupid.

i kind of figured that would be mentioned... but i know ive been misdiagnosed... i recall hearing a lot of that around NS as well.

ok i dont know how you say that in english but i have the same problem as you i think and i have the 'syndrome femoro-patellaire' you cant do anything to help except some warm up before your activity to help the 'flexibility on the knee. Dont worry it wont kill your knee, it will be better with the time. i could explain more but i suck at english sorry...

It's probably bursitis, which is a sort of inflammation. If you want it to get better you have to stop doing everything or otherwise youll just keep aggravating it and it could take a year to get better. I h

'if it hurts just below your knee cap, not underneath, but right where the top of your shin bone hits your kneecap then you have patella tendonitis and it is a bitch to heal...'

I think I picked this up summer, I went to webmd.com, and it seemed to be what I had, and the causes were stuff I had been doing. I also read that it is caused by lack of hamstring flexability, and the same thing on the top of the knee is from poor quad flexability. So I strecth out before I do anything and that seems to help.

But then again, this is an person with no medical training reading stuff online.

My advice would be to stretch.

I used to get that type of thing. I dunno how old you are but its pretty common for like 12-15 year olds doing high impact sports. If your around that age that's probably it and it should clear up in a while. If not I dunno what to do

go skiing

well if you grew recently its osgood schlatters its where u grow to fast n your muscle pulls away from your bone itl go away in a year or so

Momentum session 4

i know a kid with oshgood shlatters and he says that whenever he gets hit in his knees it hurts just as much as getting hit in the nuts

nope if you fucked youre acl there would be no skating porll more like MCL i blew mines its chill just stay off and ice the shit out of it ALWAYS ice dem knees niggrahs

yea theres a huge difference between MCL and ACL injuries

MCL you can still function and everything and it can heal itself if you care for it and ice it and stuff

ACL im pretty sure can only be fixed by surgery

go to the physio and blow 40 bucks an hour to get some surrounding muscle strenghtening excersices
