does anyone ski with them? i have them for racing dirtbike since a lot of knee injurys accur when people put thier legs out for stability and stuff. but yeah i have 2 custom built carbon-fiber ones so they are super light and you can barely notice they are on, should i wear them?

i had a lot of kneee probs but they are all good now, i don break mine out to often but once in a while i do, so i'd say play it safe wear it, i have a firend who broke his femer 2yrs ago and he always wears his, but it was his femer so nvrm.. but yea i'd say wear it

if you actually have a knee problem, wear it. or do what your doctor says.

if you don't have a problem, you shouldn't wear it skiing. the brace will stabilize your knees instead of the muscles that are supposed to do that job. those muscles won't be used as much, and then your knees will become more suceptible to injury when you're not wearing the brace.

I started wearing one when I tore my MCL. Helped keep me from reinjuring it.

Next season I'm gonna try wearing a light brace on each leg, I like the extra support.

i broke my leg 3 years ago, my acl was about to tear but instead of it ripping the bone around it hinged out of place, so basically my leg was locked in position until they grinded it back into place in the hospital. i dont know i did a lot of rehab with it so its pretty strong. i just know i cant have another knee injury because next year i am racing nationals around the country (and focusing on them, before they were just kindof for fun) and i need to train coming out of the winter, and cant do that in a cast.

^^ the interesting thing is that the new studies show that knee braces do not reduce the chance of re-injury, they do help stablize the knee if it is inured or revovering from surgery...but not once it is healed...

i had dr. steadman do my pcl/mcl/acl menicus (all cadavar) and he had CTi make a custom brace for me....i ws told only to use it for three months...now it is being passed on from friend to friend...

the days of wearing a knee brace years after surgery are over...

the CTi they made for was sick...chrome yellow ...custom fit to a mold of my leg....i was lucky enough to go to san diego were their factory is and all the pro-mx'rs go...so they did it right (plus i got to surf double over head winter swells at sunsets)

i say go for it, if it doesn't get in the way of your skiing ability its always safer to have em on. i dont know to me knees seem kind of important....

I'll nosepress your funbox if you lipslide my handrail. -awesome pickup line on the slopes

I never got a knee brace after my ACL surgery. I'm glad, because now I feel 100% without a brace. Kind of a personal choice though. I think the thing is, is it really protecting you, or does it just make you feel more secure?

I study this stuff at school, and I've read lots of journal articles that go either way. some people say that yes braces do stabilize the knee more and therefore reduce chances of reinjury. other articles say it's all based on psychological factors, that with a brace you're reminded of your injury and ski more conservatively, which also reduces chance of reinjury. and other studies say that braces don't do anythign at all.

personally, from what I've learned, a replaced acl doesn't fully attach to the bone for 18 months. so i'm gonna be wearing my brace all this season and part of next. it can't hurt, and I just feel more comfortable with it on. it doesn't hinder my skiing at all (i wore it last season before surgery).

to the guy who passed his custom brace on to his friends, i dont think that's such a good idea. could give them a false sense of security, without actually fitting properly or protecting the knee at all. causing injury.

also everything i've said is pretty much for ligament injuries. anything like tendonitis or patello femoral syndrome is totally different, listen to your doctor/ physio.

^^ yeah they are adults and know what the risks are...i was lucky enough to have insaurance when i ripped apart my knee and was able to select my doctor and have the brace paid for

my friend who is currently using my brace has a partial grade II mcl tear and no insurance...its better than nothing and with the fit kit the brace fits OK....keeps him wakeboarding (smart huh?)

but yeah...the long term use of braces for knee injuries has been shown in all studies to be nothing more than a mental brace (get it)...

i am two years out of my surgery and outside of some aches when the pressure drops (from the metal hardware) its perfect and just as strong....i just like seeing my legacy passed on to friends who cant afford real treatment

yeah man i have two CTi customs, they are sooo dope, but they were expensive as hell, but a lot of people told me they dont ride without them so i got them.
