so i tore my lcl last year, retore it like 3 weeks before the season started and cant ski for a while. but once i can im gunna need some kinda brace. any suggestions? should i get the heavy duty ones? and what about those asterix braces im lookin at in a powder mag? any advice would help brighten my life so i dont end up destroying my knee :)

depends on what you're looking for man...

i had my ACL replaced and meniscus trimmed last summer, i just wear a tight neoprene sleeve. i also have a hardcore forest gump-esque metal brace, but prefer the sleeve. while the metal brace "protects" the ACL WAAAY more, the sleeve gives me more support by keeping all of that shit tight and compact.

i personally prefer the support when i ski, but its all personal preference. maybe try both out, and see what works best for you?

kay thanks, im also pretty hesitant to spend alot of money on something thats not gunna work so was just wondering

same!! haha only dat happened 2 me in october i havent skied for a month i went 2 the doctor he gave me a knee brace exercises pills and told me if i skied b4 he told me then id need surgery so i would just recomend going 2 the doctor b4 its 2 late!!!!!! dont ski at all i know its rly hard ive been home basically 4 a month 24/7 rly sux but better than surgery ya know!!! get a doctor!!!

When i got my brace, i got it for free thanks to insurance. Its a don joy and i still wear it two season later just because i know my knee got messed up again ha.

knee braces help so much. opening day of this season i didnt wear it and i felt so many tweaks and it felt like it was about to tear so many times, and it was the worst day of skiing for me. next time i wore a brace and i was fine, and im 7 or 8 months after my acl reconstruction

yeah i went out 5 months after and it was good to go until some douche cut me off and i twisted it real bad, dont think i tore it but im still waiting on the mri results...it does suck, a lot a whole lot, get a brace and do whatever you can to keep it safe.

i tore my acl last winter n i got 1 of those don joy braces. insurance will usually cover a knee brace. it's a little restrictive, but i'd rather wear a brace than have to go through tearing my acl again.

so they figured that my lcl was about 1/3 torn 2 months ago

ive been riding a stationary bike about 20 mins a day

what kinda class of knee brace do you guys recomend?

like a don joy/asterix kinda deal or a tensor band of some sort

If you don't need a brace don't wear one... No sense in having your knee dependent on something that's not natrual. I've had 30% of my meniscus removed and while there is some fluid in the knee after skiing there's no way I want to dependant on a dam brace for the rest of my life. Skiing's not a problem it's sometime walking after skiing that's hard.
