Kitten Factory vs. ON3P (and Sizing Advice)

what's up NS,

I'm getting new skis and I have a couple of questions. I've pretty much narrowed my choices down to ON3P filthy riches or kitten factory rayzrblaydz. I'm having a bit of trouble deciding which to get as both companies and skis seem to be incredibly highly rated from you guys. I ski mostly park as of right now, but I'd like a ski I can take to all mountain terrain and groomers and still rip it up. it sounds like the kitten factory skis will pretty much do that, but what about ON3P filthies?

I also have a question about sizing (mainly with kitten factory.) I'm 5'9.5" and on a 176 currently. I've thought about going down to a 171, but I'm honestly not sure. I've never skied any other sized skis so I don't know how the performance differs, so some advice here would be nice. I figure I could stick with a 176 and be fine, but since kitten factory doesn't sell a 176, would I be better off with a 183 (181) or a 173 (171)? what would I have to lose and gain from a shorter or longer ski?

I emailed Kyle at kitten factory and he recommended the 183's for park/all mountain due to the rocker and for better stability, and I agree but would like to hear a second opinion.

I know at the end of the day it's my choice, but I'm trying to get as much information possible before dropping the money on a new pair of skis (typical broke college student lol.)

thanks everyone

if you go kitten factory i would go 183s. the rocker is roughly 30cm in both tip and tail. i feel that you would have some more stability at higher speeds and will give you more surface area in soft snow. back 2 years ago i was about 5'10.5 and i was a noob and went from riding 159s to 188 crjs, definitely longer but you will get the feel for it.

didn't read but if your debating kitten factory over ON3P you need to get some things str8 man, ON3P is way bigger than kitten and theres a reason for that...

Because ON3P is older. Kitten factory is only in its second year I believe.

OP, if you want a ski that will rip both park and all mountain I'd go with the Rayzrblaydz, but I wouldn't forget about the kartel 98 either.

I'm guessing you have never seen or ridden our skis, but we do alright. And there is a reason for that...

Hit us up if you have any other questions, Hugh.

yeah I'm not saying your sa bad company but in the scheme of thing ON3P is a bigger company than you guys witch means they have more money and can create a better product

So K2 is better than ON3P? By your logic they are. Both companies make a sick ski, I love my ON3Ps and would love to pick up a pair of Kitten Factories.

Size of the company often does not correlate to the quality of the product.

OP - Filthy Rich 176 would be an excellent choice. Kartel 98's may also be something to consider for more all mountain riding. Big difference in these skis construction wise is the bamboo core, versus KF's maple/poplar.

Obviously you don't know anything about how ON3P came up and got to where they are now. Your logic is flawed on many levels so don't go calling out KF.

I mean K2 makes a great ski... but theres a limit once a company gets as big as k2 and moves there factories to china then the production quality will go down as they cannot individually check every ski

what are you talking about man how is my logic flawed on so many levels its pretty basic knowledge that if you make more money in a company like that you can put more money into r&d like i don't see how that is wrong... I'm sure KF is a good ski but i guarantee ON3P is a better ski

Take line skis for example. They're pretty big and well known. But you'd go through afterbangs, TC, and more of their skis before going through a pair of kittens and ON3P. And yeah I guess they could put more money into a product, but they don't.

KITTEN FACTORY WITH THE BURN

I decided on the KF skis. I'd love to try some ON3Ps, but that will have to wait until the future.

I have to give a shout out to their customer service- it really is outstanding!

thanks everyone for the responses!

ON3P started much smaller. 50 odd pairs built in Scott's garage and a cult on NS. I still have 3 of those pairs, fyi, and they are great skis.

Moment makes way more skis than ON3P and Kitten Factory combined, and their quality sucks.

I definitely gave those skis a look too after I started doing more research. they seem more similar to the rayzrs than the filthy riches would be. I've heard they are an amazing ski from everyone who has ridden the kartel 98.

They are very similar to the Rayzrblaydz, I ride the ON3P Jeronimo which is sort of the precursor to the Kartel 98 and they are fantastic anywhere that I take them. That said, you will not be disappointed with your Kittens.
