dumbass kite surfer goes out in the hurricane fay and gets slammed against some buildings... CRAZY

 
yeah the kite is attached in a harness. he would of had to unclip it when he was being smashed against the ground. kinda hard to do
 
add high winds and heavy snow to that. now your analogy makes sense.

kiteboarding is already fucking dangerous. many experienced kiteboarders die every year when there kites catch a gust as they're coming into shore. while I was in the Dominican Republic I saw a broken wall that I was told was caused by a kiteboarder.

Now given the inherent dangers of kiteboarding, why the fuck would anyone up the ante and do it during a borderline hurricane. That guy was stupid as fuck.
 
No, this is just stupid and careless in unpredictable conditions. I've surfed during tropical storms. I took a wave in and that was my last one. Too fucking scary.

He's badass. Too bad he didn't let go the first time he hit the ground.

I hope he has a speedy recovery. That'll be story to tell the grandchildren....
 
You know how difficult it is to Unclip your harness when your panicking, and i know he was, and usually peoples reactions is to grip things harder, so it would have been hard to unclip.
 
Haha, didn't take that into consideration. I've never been kite surfing. Please excuse my noobness to the sport. =)
 
I have been a skier, and now that i live in FL i'm a kiter. The danger is just as high on either side, depending on your skill level and your surroundings.

1) Yes he was not smart, but how many have gone off a back side cliff and not looked..

2) There is a harness, but there are 5 safety realeases, including letting go of the bar.

The issue is he was dragged & tossed around like pinata for no more them 90 seconds, he was also knock out or blacked out cause he has no recolection of what happen.

Either way (skier, kiter, surfer, snowboarder, biker) it sucks and hopefully he will recover.

The wind was so freakin' gnar today. I was driving down 75 on my way to Tampa, and my little 1500 got blown everywhere. I actually lost traction a few times.

BTW I think that all the FL NSers should unite and have a party.
 
Lucky he didnt get pulled out into open water. That could have ended worse.
Btw some chick just died today up here in jax cuz she went out for a swim in the ocean durring this. Also its only a tropical storm not a hurricane.
 
One of my best friends in high school was killed while kitesurfing after he was thrown like that into a cliff. bad times.
