Kissing Bridge - Updates

We hope to be able lay down lots of snow through the week and open with a quality product on Friday of next week, subject to weather of coursse, natural snowfall etc. The chances to open on the 7th are very good from where I sit. That is pretty much the average opening day, but with the forecast for next week it has the potential to be an above average day! Bristol went open today, PNP tomorrow, my guess is the Valley on Wednesday. Although I like the idea of getting the pub by pushing an early opening I like the thought of keeping the guns on the first line trails long enough to get a good base for the season and not pulling them off for a day of white ribbon of death skiing. As of today I would say we have 70-75 percent of what we would need to open with (OK) conditions, that should translate into a good opening by later next week. Stick with us, it's going to be a good one. Hmmmm. the Lake Effect opens in 15 mins!

Although I'm bummed for no KB this weekend, it should be an awesome opening conditions for next weekend.

I'm skipping the other places close to full price opening weekends (Bristol, Pk'n'Pk). I'll be taking the day off to ski HV on Wednesday for $4.

:)

naw, I'm poor. I wish I was though, sounds soooooo sick.

on a happier note, I went skiing today!!

except it was raining, oh well.

Wed. at HV for 4.00 bucks, I will be calling in sick! While the Man is a conservative gent and not willing to announce an opening at KB just yet, I would recomend being prepared to ski on Friday somewhere South of Cloden in the Glenwood Valley.

Straight dope.

I took the day off for Wednesday for $4.00. Gonna be straight awesome opening day conditions. Perhaps even some powder to be had.

I only work 'til noon on Friday, and hopefully I can go straight to KB!

I have classes all before that man... don't worry though, I'll be out there later that week with schuss, one opening day isn't going to be a big deal for me. lol. It's almost winter break too, work, then skiing every day.

Those classes aren't important, I went skiing on at least one opening day when I had a big exam later in the day.

Bahhh, and you're not blowing off a day of work?

Hypocrit. :)

I'll be sure to enjoy skiing while you're doing some drafting Wednesday!

KB, any chance you'll open with more than Coal Chute this weekend to help spread out the crowds?

2 trails at least, and a few park features would be incredible.

Ehh, I've got a feeling it's going to be insanely busy tomorrow at HV, ahha. Oh well, it'll be fun no doubt.

"The cold weather and some natural snowfall, together with some top notch work from our snowmakers have combined to make for what should be an excellent opening. At this point we plan to open with Coal Chute, Twist to Coal Chute, Terrain Park with rails and possibly more features, North Shuttle and the Beginner Slope. This may be one of the best opening days in years! Stay tuned for fresh photos and late breaking news."

Sounds awesome.

holidays opening was awesome but extremly crowded at times. we sat in line for 20 minutes at one time. and unlike kb, there were no official "features" set up

my fav feature was that wooden fort in the woods by tannenbaum, i played in that swirly slide for minuets, then i rode down the 4 ft climbing wall. the more i think about it, why is there a huge fort playground in the woods at HV?

I spent most of my afternoon skiing laps on Chute and traversing back to Yodeler. Scoring powder runs was an amazing way to start the season.

I did 15-20 runs down Chute alone.

i made one run down chute at the end of the day. It was getting dark and the snow seemed to be getting firmer. I decided to leave my poles in the trunk of my car, bad idea. The skis i was using had been remounted in such a way that i had more ski behind the boot than in front, ad to this the no poles and i had to sit so far back to turn than it made by legs burn. when i arrived at the bottom i had skate across the icy flats over to the lift, but having round edges and no poles mad that a real pain in the ass. All that skating made my hips move around so much that my pants repeatedly fell down. At least i was skiing

Haha, let me guess, you were on the right side of Chute? The right side had a crusty layer over top. It was ll super fluffy for me.

I was on my Invaders, which are not very powder friendly either. I need a pair of bindings to mount on my old Skogens for powder, even though they aren't fatties.

Breaking news... As of 4:30 Thursdays 5 rails have been placed in the park for opening day.

there's that too...

ill definetly be there friday. aiming for first chair, i got it last year and lookin for two years in a row.

ill probably be there saturday, but i might be at the rail jam at holiday. is anyone else going to that?

kenton might go to the HV comp on sat. I have to work sat afternoon, so ill ski at kb sat morning

New info up on the KB site. Some pictures.

See you at 4pm at the hill. I'll be the guy who looks like a tree. Green Sessions jacket and brown pants. I'll be looking like a fool sliding boxes because I suck.

The features, and I am not a park guy, so cut me some slack on the lingo, are... Uprail to Diesel tank to flatbox to some other rail to rainbow box. (I think). They are in a line and look to have a nice flow going on. They were just getting to final prep and grooming when I hiked up so I can not say what else is going on, in a few hours you can see for self!

Photos at that link.

well, its 4:25 and I'm off to work. hopefully ill be at kb sat at 9am, tearing it up with ill mitch

It was rather sick last nite. The setups were awesome, and I hope they get maintained and stay that way. I was having TONS of fun.

The SteezNinja was throwing 2-sevs on and off the barrel all day. Rad yo.

But besides that, the park was sick today, or maybe because I haven't skied park since last winter... Either way, that barrel has potential for so much jibbing, if they only built the side up a little better I'd of had that stall... and the rainbow was nice, finally learned that ass-slide. Anyways, Steve, ya missed out, sure, day > night skiing, but night skiing with friends having a blasty blast > then skiing by yourself in the day time.

I was surely not alone Nick. Connor and the Phillips Bros. were there as well.

So I guess one could say YOU missed out.

:)

should be below freezing until next thursday... not much precip though, they'll get snowmaking though

you new? I've never seen you around the forums...
