Kindle Fire vs Ipad 2

So i want a e-reader / tablet wutever, and im stuck. I know the ipad has better graphics, more memory and a cam (shit load more monies), but, what I really want is the ability to read e books. The original kindle had that real muted screen (no backlight, looked like a book page) that wasnt as taxing on your eyes, so im wondering if the fire has the backlit touch screen with the option of switching back to that muted screen for reading, or if the Ipad has that. I know I sound like a wimp, but I dont wanna read my books off a screen that looks like a computer, I want that original screen.

Plus, if you guys can think of any more attributes for either that Im missing, tell me haha

Thanks guys

right, but i figure if the Ipad has that screen feature thats easier on peoples eyes, then I mine as well get it cause i aint got no smartphone / laptop haha. Before the hate...im older than all you little fucks ahha

Kindle= really nice for books

iPad= ok for books, awesome with everything else like movies,browsing, games, etc

get the original kindle. you say you like the screen better and you want it to read books. waaaay cheaper.

i think i can help you out here. i have the original kindle and an iphone 4(yes, i know, not an ipad 2 but they are extremely similar)

long story short: if you want to read ONLY, go for the kindle. if you want to read and also use it as a substitute for a laptop, the ipad 2 is much much better

the kindle does have a very nice screen that does not hurt your eyes like a laptop screen does, and that is its selling point, IMO

but honestly, the ipad 2 does everything a kindle will do better, and will do more. you can get away with reading on the ipad for hours if you do two things. 1) TURN THE BRIGHTNESS DOWN 2)read in a well lit room

the selling point for all apple products IMO is the touch gestures. the gestures, sensitivity, and all around screen is 8976543 better than all other tablets i've ever seen. it just makes sense once you've used an ipad/iphone/mac for a few hours

hoped this helped

yes, that does, thanks a ton.

Is there a tablet option that offers the e-ink that was mentioned previously? So I would be able to access the web with a screen designed to decrease eye strain? Thanks NS

If you really just want to read get the original kindle for $79. The muted screen as you call it is ink. There is no light source that comes from the kindle, so you will need a light if you are reading at night. The kindle fire as far as I am aware is more or less the same ads the ipad screen wise, but you get color out of it, which is it's selling point as an e-reader. It also has wifi and cloud storage (which you can only acess while in a wifi zone) The book/ movie store is the same, the apps are different with the kindle fire being android based.

I would call amazon and ask them about the screen on the kindle fire, they would know more about it than anyone. But if you just mostly care about reading books get a kindle, if you want a little bit more kindle fire and if you want "everything" ipad 2. The original kindle also has something like a 48 hour battery life over the kindle fire 8 hour and the ipad2's 10 hour.
