Kinda a rant on obama

ok summary, i dont care for obama but i do not disrespect him seriously and i go to school in a very liberal school.

today after watching the president being sworn in thing, we had a discussion and everyone was like oh hes black omg omg. then someone said that are country is crap and hes the light at the end of a tunnel to change everything for the good. EVERYONE agreed but i said thats bullshit because he hasnt done anything in his previous political position that made everyone change. and i got pretty much verbally raped and called a raciest. So i dont care for obama and i dont hate him he just hasnt changed anything in his previous position.
why are we going bananas over him?

yah i know he might give everyone fulltilt

i dont get it either. im really indifferent towards obama and hes totally blown outta proportion. most people dont even know why they like him either, (other than, "hes a good spearker", or, "he has a good aura". or something else completely outlandish and made up.)

please tell me you said nothing on the matter of race?

if so, tell them that THEY are acting in a racist capacity, because if your argument has nothing to do with race then you my friend are truly looking past race and judging the man on the content of his caricature on not on the color of his skin.

so the ability of you being able to disagree yet keep race out of it speaks to your ability and your neutrality on the subject of skin color..

so basically hit them over the head for calling you a racist (as long as you gave them no ammo to shoot you with?)

I think he'll help the USA's image. I don't think he'll help us with our economy, but I do think he will try to get some of the social policies settled (e.g. gay marriage). I hope he gets rid of a lot of the programs that the government doesn't need like he said he would, that is what will help out the USA a LOT.

u should learn to take criticism better maybe and possibly realize that there is never going to be a perfect president. i would take shear intellegence and inspiration over any other overwhelming trait in a leader. so if it is his view that u dont like i am not going to argue with you, but honestly he has so far proven himself to be very intellegent and hardworking (Harvard from nothing), and has proven he is inspirational (everyone crying or getting goosebumps when he talks [including myself]). I think that inspiration is the most important thing the US people need right now. we have the resources, but we do not use them to their full potential. he is inspiring and intellegent and in my opinion that will lead to a better United States.

i said nothing about race i acually tell them to look past the fact that hes black. witch would be the right thing.

i have a feeling they are a ignorrant idiots thought a kid also said that whoever didnt vote for obama hate black and should die

once again we need inspiration. we can be greater than any other nation without an amazing leader which Obama is also, but he is inspirational, nuff said

im gettin so tired of seeing people ranting and complaining about obama. youre not changing anything. whats done is done. cant we just wait it out and see what happens now?

no one really knows how good of a leader he is yet. Im in complete agreeance (sp) with you that he is extremely intelligent and is inspiring, but its to early to tell how he will do as president. Also I would say the younger demographic 18-24 dont really seem to have very legitimate reasons for being as big of supporters as they are.

I asked a girl earlier why she liked Obama so much, and she honestly said these exact words, "Well, he's really attractive." I laughed, because I thought she was joking, but she gave me a confused look. Although I support him, I hate the Obizzle bandwagon.

Cool, he's the first black president; who gives a shit. People should be focusing on his policies, not his advertising campaign.

What scares me is how blindly people support him. This is exactly how Hitler got power, and look how that went to his head. I'm not insinuating that this will happen with Obama; it's just...scary. I'm sick of two dimensional logic and favor.

i agree people should be focused on his policies. and if they called the OP racist thats bullshit, and i hope you told them that.

however to say "who gives a shit" i disagree with. 55 years ago black people didnt even go to the same school as white kids. and now we have a black president. it shows that while our country still has a long way to go, we have progressed immensely.

Its been 13 hours since he has been president.

My life doesn't feel any different. I don't have any desires to kill or praise obama. In my mind, nothing has changed.

i think obama will actually do very little to improve our country. however, what he does do is inspire hope in people to change this country for the better. so i think he wont change this country so much as spark americans as a people to make the change we need. so thats good, but really if you think about it theres only so much the president can do, thats why he called the people to action. obama himself even admitted that.

Obama is so hyped, he hasn't done anything. I hope he's a good president but shit, no one even knows what he's about. Wow he's black so now EVERYONE THAT DISAGREES WITH HIM WILL BE CALLED A RACIST.

FUCK THAT

We as Americans are divided. There is no culture only subculture. There is no sense of national pride. Our generation has never faced a serious war or difficult struggle in which for once we were forced to leave our bubble and pull together in a helping manner to support one another as the citizens of a country. We are lost in our own worlds. Where everyday we may take the subway, bus, etc and walk past thousands of faces that look empty. Our sense of morals resembles that of a bucket filled with holes. Years ago business meant two men shook hands and both benefited from a deal. Now it means tough luck on one party of the deal.

Obama is one man. Voting for this man gives you no reason to think that you have participated in "change". We overlook change every day. People out there demanding better economic policies, yet they are riding unemployment and are perfectly capable of getting a job. There are people complaining about gas prices, yet they are driving vehicles that get 8mpg. CEO's demanding lower taxes, yet they are cutting themselves the biggest bonuses ever recorded in American history. Change is something that needs to be developed within every person. Not just Democrats. Not just Republicans. Change is not easy for it requires sacrifice, something modern Americans are very unfamiliar with. So NSers, if you are lucky enough to have a grandfather or grandmother as I am not, ask them what it was like. Ask them what true hard times were like and they will tell you valuable stories. Stories which we will most likely be telling our grandkids, maybe not to the grave destitution as they had in the 30's but destitute nonetheless. So as you are all calling each other out on who you voted for I ask you to remember one thing: what's done is done. Do not be judgemental and bitter towards the winner and on the other hand don't assume he will be this descendent of impeccable personality because he's not. Just take it for what it's worth and do your best to do what is right for you, but also your fellow countrymen.

I think the "Light at the End of the Tunnel" is basically a context meaning an intelligent person capable of connecting with the American populace. The fact that he is black says something about us as Americans - though I think it's incredibly racist to even CONSIDER voting for someone just because they are black. It shouldn't even matter.

I am not impressed with Obama. I HOPE I will be, and I think he is promising. If not, it's not like he could do anything to make our situation worse beyond Hitlerian agendas or flipping off the Pope. [which would still be badass]

People are soo damn unsupportive or their new president its ridiculous. Bush was shit and everyone knows that. Im pretty sure no one can screw up as bad as he did so people should get over it that obama won and support your president.

i dont think that his innauguration should be treated any differently just because he is black. Sure he is the first black president and that shows progress but just acknowledging the fact that he is "different" from other presidents is racist in itself. and for the record i dont agree with his views but i respect him for what he has acomplished

Yeah I hope he does a good job and keeps his word
but till then hes just another dude at the white house beggin for change

Ronald Reagan was perfect. And I agree, this maybe a huge moment in U.S. history but his track record is very limited. He offers this Tremendous amount of change that couldn’t possibly be obtained in 8 years (IF he get re-elected). I think that once all the hype dies off we will get a real idea of what Obama is capable of, if anything.

ya i go to the same school as dr. derek and we are pretty good friends too.
i feel the same way about obama. i didn't choose him as my favorable one to win the election but i give the guy mad respect and he has a lot of balls stepping into a position like this right now.
but i think people need to get over the fact that he is Jesus and he will just wave his hand and everything will be perfect.
everyone will be holding hands singing amazing grace in a field of daisys.the blind will see again and the deaf will hear.
it just wont happen.if he follows through with what he says he is gonna do then more power to him.but its a hell of a lot easier to say im gonna do something than actually doing it.
we'll see by the end of 2009 how great he really is

I won't even argue with that because I don't know much about Reagan. I'm young (19) and wasn't alive when he was in power. Hey cool I just admitted I wasn't all-knowing on a forum!

But simply for the fact he had a cunt of a wife whose program is still polluting young childrens' minds today with "Just Say No" That alone makes me hate the administration for the ignorance and sheer stupidity that was their policy on drugs.

Yeah, I can't fucking stand that. Everytime I say that I don't know if I like Obama yet or not, people say "ITS BECAUSE HES BLACK, ISNT IT?!"

My response is, "He's only fucking half black"

I'm so sick of everyone throwing in the race card when you disagree with their Obama views, it's so obnoxious and unnecessary

Maybe you're classmates were arguing, either knowingly or unknowingly, that Obama's allure is in his symbolism. That is, it doesn't really matter if he makes any real legislative change but the fact that he is a symbol of hope in a time of severe depression can be a powerful tool.

Take for instance the study of economics. Economics is more or less a study in philosophy, you can do a lot of statistical analysis, but what it ultimetley comes down to is predicting how people will mentally react. If Obama can give a majority of people a positive prospects for the future, and they act on this positive hope, it can have significant impact on the economy.

So yeah, it's possible that he may be a "dud" in office in terms of substance and legislation. but the important thing right now is that people see hope and confidence in him, and confidence is one of the main driving factors of economics.

thats my view anyways. And just so you know where i am coming from, i was really close to voting for McCain due to his more comprehensive and clear tax/financial provisions (Obama prior to the election had very vague tax plans).

lol you said bananas in an obama thread

He's cliche, mediocre, he hasn't had any amazing original ideas, and he's going to raise cigarette prices. So fuck him.
