It's completely unfair to call Kimbo a farce. He refused to offer any excuses...so I'll do it for him.
1.) Simply put...EVERYONE in MMA loses. MMA is not boxing...having more victories than losses is an accomplishment...unlike boxing where a single defeat could mean the end of a career.
2.) Like boxing however, MMA is alllll about matchups. Leading up to a fight, a fighter prepares a specific gameplan, to be executed on a particular fighter. A fighter's entire training regiment hinges on the strengths and weaknesses of the upcoming opponent. Furthermore, as any athlete will tell you, mental preperation is just as vitally important.
The mere fact that Kimbo chose to continue with the fight despite being notified hours prior to the bell that he will be fighting an opponent that he has likely never even laid eyes on previously, is a testament to who he is as a fighter.
Is the attention Kimbo receives out of step with his current ability as a mixed martial artist? Absolutely. Is he the best heavyweight? Absolutely not...far from it.
Kimbo has however shown an inredible work ethic, and a level of professionalism that many, myself included, believed to be impossible. Kimbo is humble, respectful, and genuinely likable.
Unfortunately for Kimbo, unrealistic expectations have been placed on his shoulders...namely because Eltie XC, and mma as a whole, see him as being incredibly marketable and as a possible "face" of mma.
Give him a break....he got caught with a short right hand moving forward...by a fighter he hadn't prepared for...he's a rookie. His potential and physical attributes are undeniable. This defeat may end up being the biggest blessing of his young career.
  A farce he is not.
