Killy or stratton pass?

I'm the president of the snow sports club at Skidmore college, and in the past we've promoted/gotten all east passes. We went to Killington most of the time, and were very satisfied with it, with occasional trips to Mt.Snow and other mountains.

Now that there is no more all east pass, we're trying to decide whether to stick with Killington, or go for the Stratton/Okemo/Sunapee pass.

Most of the southern VT resorts are 1.5-2 hours away, and they're the only decent mountains near my school.

I feel that killington offers the best variety of terrain out of these mountains, but stratton/okemo have better parks. Most of the people at skidmore are intermediate to advanced in ability, but I'd like to do more events/trips to get some beginners and first timers out.

Also, most of them AREN'T park riders like myself. So having a super duper awesome park but nothing else won't really fly.

Sunapee is a bit far for us to go to for a day trip, so it's out of consideration at this point.

The Stratton/Okemo flexibility sounds good, like you're getting more for your money. But based on our past years, we only really went to one mountain (Killy).

Pretty much, I am looking for the mountain with:

-best variety of terrain

-good learning program for noobs

-best park along with the rest of the mountain

-good lodging places for a weekend trip (we stayed at Killington last year, at the Sunrise condos)

There's always going to be people purchasing one or the other, and my heart is leaning towards Killy, but I want to see what info/recommendations are offered for stratton/okemo, because I haven't ridden there in a while.

id take that 3 pass. i haven't been to killy in a long time but the park at stratton was legit and the skiing was good to. and if u want to ski some powder there is bromley right around the corner and magic is up there 2.

I would go with Killy. The parks are alright, but for everything you are asking for Killington has it.

I am at ends for what pass to get this year as well.

Killy has its issues, I mostly hate the crowds. But, there are other benefits:

First to open

First to close

Lots of lodging options

Great night life if you are spending weekends.

Good luck!

i hate stratton. they have a good park but thats it, 90% of the people there are rich new yorkers on family trips. the village looks like its straight out of a Disney themed ski town too. and its failry crowded. get the killington pass.

i totally agree. i went there once and it was a nice mountain but the tickets are real expensive, it gets crowded, and there are alot of real annoying people there. i think killy is a safer bet on a season pass.

Ive been to all 3 mtns alot and here's what I think:

Stratton

-Closer to home

-Fast lifts, good snow, good parks, mostly intermediate terrain.

-Great Snowboard School

-Lodging deals are only midweek

-Food costs: $$$

-So-so Restaurants & few options unless you go off mtn or to Manchester (25min away)

-Little to No nightlife

Okemo

-Included w/ Stratton

-Some nightlife

-Long lines, ok snow, good parks, advanced intermediate terrain.

-Also has a good school

-Food costs: $$

-Good Restaurants

*Not sure what the lodging options are around Okemo

Killington

-Only 30 min past Okemo

-Long lines, crowded, ok snow, good parks later in season, Beg-expert terrain options.

-Busy School, lots of other groups.

-Lots of lodging options

-Food costs: $$$

-Great Restaurants & lots of options

-Great Nightlife
