Killington Resort Opens 10/29 at 10:00 a.m.

Killington Resort welcomes skiers and riders back to the slopes for the

kick-off of the 2011-12 winter season on Saturday, October 29, 2011,

nearly nine weeks after tropical storm Irene devastated the Northeast.

Thanks to Mother Nature, Killington received nine inches of natural snow

in the last 24 hours and our dedicated snowmakers will continue to make

snow as well as expand the terrain as long as conditions permit.

Skiing

and riding will be on advanced terrain only on the un-groomed Rime

trail, providing roughly 600 vertical feet of terrain. No beginner

terrain will be available at this time.

Hours of operation will

be 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on

Sunday. The K-1 Gondola will provide uploading and downloading, while

access from the top of the K-1 Gondola down and up from the skiing and

riding terrain will be via a short walk on the Peak Walkway.

This

weekend, lift tickets are $39 for adults (19-64), $33 for Young

Adults/Seniors (13-18/65+) and $27 for Juniors (7-12). Season pass

holders who have not activated their passes may do so at the Snowshed

Sales Center beginning at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29.

Beverages,

hot dogs, chili and light snacks will be available for purchase at the

base of the North Ridge Triple Chair and the K-1 Lodge will be open for

ticket sales, lunch, guest service, retail and restrooms.

Killington

Resort anticipates skiing and riding on the upper mountain terrain

through Sunday, October 30. Our crews will re-evaluate the conditions on

Sunday afternoon and determine the operating schedule for the following

week. Check here each day after 4:00 p.m. to see if we will operate the

following day.

We will have a few small terrain park features up but not a park. We need a bit more snow before we can start building Reason Park.

Skiing east coast in Oct.....priceless. Dude honestly they coulda said "eff this it's not worth the operating costs for the few die-hards willing to show up." but no they're opening a lift when no one else will. That stuffs not cheap homie so chill. At least they care about the die-hards.

Plus most kids pay full pop mid season to hit the same park all day so what's the difference really? I'd almost be willing to bet they lose money opening this early but they're doing it to show they give a damn and that should speak volumes. Ok I'm done. Lol

i dont care about them charging $39 because the other guy made a good point in how much it costs for them to do this

well worth the money if you count down the days to ski all summer like me

i went opening day last year on Nov4th and it was worth it to spend the $50, AND i drove all the way from long island

f*ck yea killington! the seasons here. id be driving up this weekend if i didnt have a party to go to. ill be there next weekend

Shit I may be there next weekend and the following if they can get at least a partial snowshed opening. My bud is coming to visit next week. A snowboard convert who's brand new to skiing so his first time on skis will be early season Killy. Rut-roh. Hopefully there's somethin semi chill open so he can get the mechanics down real quick. I'm still super stoked they're open this early though. My bud may jus have a trial by fire. Haha. Welcome to skiing, now learn on cascade. Lol.

I'm still probably going to mount snow this weekend but I'll be at killy next week for sure. Gonna be a good season.

My home mountain in Cali usually opens pretty early on some flat run w/ man made snow and a few features for only season pass holders before closing and reopening when they can stay open for the rest of winter. It's a pretty sweet deal.

If i was back east I'd def pay $40 to shred in october features or not, it's sick! I'm way jealous.

Thats sick but they should lower the price for one trail and 600 of vert. They are not going to make much money of ticket sales by opening this early. They are mostly just making a name for themselves, or getting that name back.

Yeah or maybe there's just some peeps who work there who actually give a fuck about skiing. This is one of those situations where the haters are def wrong. I worked there. I know how much it costs to run just one lift and I have damn good idea how few peeps are actually gonna show up to ski this weekend. Killy is doing this for the love of the sport because there's no way they're making money and there are some employees there who will fight tooth and nail for the sport. They don't need to make a name. It's friggin killington dude.

oh my god i wish i could make that trip again haha. killy MADE my thanksgiving last year, so awesome.

So stoked for Killington! What a comeback to such a tragedy earlier this year. Clearly telling Irene to shove it by opening this weekend.

SICK! I am so stoked for you guys, espically with you being hit so hard by Irene its really inspiration too see you guys so stoked already.

We switched it. This photo was from opening day. A drop-box is now where the pipe is and the pipe is set-up as an ollie-on corrugated in a different spot.

39$? A bit steep for early season I think. B-town is like 30$ for like 4 runs and a park. Pretty cool the season is already on in the EC, though.

I mean if you do the 2 for 1 thing it's only 20$ per person, which is super worth it. I had a great fucking day today. Can't wait for many more.

Are they actually blowing snow yet at all? Kinda hopin they have alot open in two weeks. Early season I know but with that kind of free base, anything is possible.
Inb4 "with free-base anything is possible" Lmao!
