Killington Park on Bear Trap

on website they say they have 9 hits open so prob some jumps up cause thats usually thier main park its sooo sick!

killington wont get it together until they get someone to build a park for them. rosey hasnt gotten it right since ive skied there. circa 99, the beach had potential to be the greatest park of all time.

this is true but they do have pretty nice rails they dont set them up great but they forsure got mountsnow beat on rails

ya the beach was so sick. i wish i actually skied park back then rather than being a 8yr old straight airing the jumps. As i recall it it has siiick flow. It'd be perfect if it had a steeper grade and if it wasn't a learning area...

As for the new park at killington keep in mind that this isnt the wild fire park, the big one open last year with all the larger jumps. The park they have open now is the little one they had up top with a couple rails and like one small jump last year. I havent been up this week cause i have school but my brother said its pretty sick. New fdf box although i think they made it waaay too mellow judging by pictures. As for what my brother's told me they have 2 down rails, couple boxes, big barrel jib, 2 hips open and one jump. More will be up for this weekend im sure. It should be fun.

yes the beach was sick back in the day, but who here honestly misses the times when you'd have to bomb down half of snowshed to get enough speed to clear the biggest jump and right before you go up the lip some chinese dude in jeans is stuck on top of the jump and you have to bail. yeah other than that i absolutely loved the beach

Ya i miss the beach. Even though i didnt really do park then, it was a sweet park.

All I've heard is that there are 9 hits. I'm gonna check it out on sat.

when i was up at killy the week before xmas they had absolutly no snow on bear. i'm so glad that side is open now cuz i'll be up there next weekend.

are u kidding me? the beach was bloodshed. the flow was terrible the jumps didnt go in order at all they were all mixed distances. you would like overshoot one and then come up short on the next. it was stupid. but anyway i would also like to kno the size of the hits on bear trap....

The beach was sick because it was so wide open and you could see the hole line. However, it was annoying that you had to go all the way over there to hit the jumps. At least now the park is on the part of the mountain that you would actually ski. I can ride the park when I'm with non-park skiers.

their like hips- i was hittin the last hip straight on n u could get decent air to throw some shit but they like arent really even built as jumps like had the orange sticks pushin u to hit it like a hip- the jump on reason is cut like a cheese wedge n gives u a lil ups but still to small to really get it goin on

their step down is like 20 feet or so. The hips are pretty small but pretty fun cause they're one right after the other, one facing left then it goes right into the next one facing right. They got the down rail from rails to riches set up. And the t style down box from last years rails to riches set up along side the down rail. Above that is either a flat bar or a fdf box, hardly any down at all.

heres 3 pictures off of killington's website.

first jump is about 15, then the two hips are a little bigger if you hit them straight on like the kid above me said

tank stall is mad fun, never hit one before

nope not at all, the most would be 8, but killingotn is right on the line of getting snow or rain, so it could go either way. However we all know which way it always goes

ya the one at killy would be sick if they had it up higher. It's stupid

right now cause the ramp isnt vertical enough. If you want to spin onto

it you're gunna just tap it then gap over and land far down the

landing, kinda hurts.

Agred about not wanting non-skiers in there..but we still have the problem just as bad on bear trap. Killington needs park passes bad!

killington does not know how to build lips onto rails. istead of a lip its like an up-flat snow thing that makes it impossible to spin on or even get on in some cases. flatdownflat was set up so shittily even with a big ollie it was hard to get on.

they make small jump ons which isnt bad at all and you can spin onto them you just need to have some balls to do it. I used to hate their jump ons but after getting used to them i like them alot more than lets say mount snow.

ya they're still very do-able its just way harder and scarier to do stuff on em, especially spinning on. I like the small jumps because instead of launching like halfway down the rail to try and get on you just ollie on and get to slide the entire thing.

i really didnt have any trouble getting onto the fdf or the rail last week when i was there. you had to ollie a bit but i never saw anybody clipping the front of the box.

and yeah when i was there they had the 20 ft kicker open the last day (the 12th) , 2 hips which were very smooth and nice to throw 3s over. the barrel bonks at the top were a good time too. the big t box and the big down rail both looked a little sketchy but i saw someone hit them without wrecking their shit too bad so im assuming theyre okay. the other park on Reason (top of the north ridge lift) had a hip, like 20ft kicker, a down rail and a flat down box in it too and they all looked pretty sick even though it was mad icy from the wind and such so i didnt hit much in there.

yea it was soo icy over at that park, jump looked fun though...there are so many racers at teh park on bear its redicolous. honestly its getting out of control

i know it sucks sooo much. We all need to suggest that they should have park passes. Just something cheap like $10 for all year, just to keep at the people who come up on vacation and cant ski from coming. I know it'd be an extra $10 that people vacationing and hitting the park who can actually hit the park but you'd be willing to pay that right?

and about the down box... you're kinda supposed to hit it from the side. The down box is so much fun though, i love it. Minus the fact that the landing is flat, that sucks. Combine that with shinbang and the box begins to suck.

word...id even pay 20 if it would keep the truckloads of racers and gapers from pouring into the park. like the flow does not stop, its just little racers all day gooing through and scraping the landing off the jumps and screwing up the lips. so annoying

i must admit though, i love watching little kids land flat on jumps. nearly makes my day. cause then they bounce and land on their face.

Does anybody know when the bigger hits in the lower park will be open? I'm trying to decide between this weekend and next to go up from Boston and I'd like be there when there are more features open.

I doubt for a while. There is not a drop of snow on the lower park (wildfire) Hopefully they'll start blowing snow soon, it is supposed to be cold

Didn't see if this has already been posted or not, but Killington is NOT, and i repeat, NOT buliding a park on wildfire this year. I know this isn't taken from the killington site, but the following quote is from Tom Horrocks the Communications Manager a k-town:

"First off, we’re not building a terrain park on Wildfire this year; instead we’re going to focus our resources on other key areas such as OL, Superstar and getting the tubing hill operational at Snowshed. From there, we’re going to Sunrise and Skyeship. If conditions permit and once we accomplish the, we’ll get Devil’s Fiddle and Ovation covered as well. As for terrain parks, we may build two big kickers next to the Superpipe on Grizzly, plus the parks on Dream Maker, Bear Trap and Bear Claw. "

any news on timberline at ramshead, please tell me they're planning to do something there again

that's a good idea. All the little kids who are still learning how to turn are tearing apart the ramps and landings. And the racers are ruining the park too. And it wuld overall just cut down the crowds. You should e-mail killington about that.
