yah so i was lisitng to the radio at work today and they were saying how killingon resort in vermont is trying to seced from vermont and join new hampshire becasue of lower taxes. it would be nice if it lowered rates there but then towns every were in the u.s. would try the same move. any one else hear of this?

 
heard it, it;ll never go through. They;re just trying to make a point that they pay the most property tax in the state, which makes sense being that they;re also one of larger businesses in the state. Funny thing is though, no where in the plan is there a mentioning of lowering the 70 dollar ticket price if it did actually go through. fucking profit margins

Yeah, for killington to become part of NH, it has to run through the state of vermont. They won't let it go through, and even if it did, Killington would face the same problems in NH.

it had nouthing to do with the ski area the people in the town wanted more of there tax dolars to go into there school and not all the other poorer ares schools in vt

ok heres the deal..cause i live here

we have whats called ACT 250...wealthy towns (killington) have their tax money distributed to poor towns for schools...so while the killington locals and businesses pay tax out the ASS, it goes to other people, which is a perfectly GOOD reason to be pissed...they pay jacked up property/sales/everything tax...and they really dont see anything come from it. If they were in NH, act 250 wouldnt exist, and more of their money would go to their children/town

the guy heading the change is Dave Lewis (he was my senior babe ruth baseball coach) and he admits that its NOT happening. Its a clever way to let everyone know that isnt aware, just how bad they get dicked in taxes. It really is just a good way for them to get the word out, really wont happen, haha would be sick though, no sales tax in nh would make prices for tickets/gear/anything go down

it's one of the dumbest bills ever. Our new govener though jim douglas got rid of the concept of rich towns giving money to poor towns for schools. Thats another reason i'm glad dean will not be the next president

bristolrider, how old are you? 15? once you get a job, and get a third of your paycheck taken away due to taxes, then you can complain. i know you live in new york and your sales tax is 8 or 9 %, but philly isnt much better
