Killington loses their lodge

My thoughts and prayers to people out there.

Wow, I was just reading about this.

Killington Resort and the surrounding communities have suffered flood damage from Tropical Storm Irene.

Crews are out assessing damages around the resort including structural deterioration to base lodges, lifts and roads as well as power outages.

Following an initial overview of the storm's aftermath, the K-1 Lodge Superstar Pub's structural integrity was compromised by the volume of water running off of Roaring Brook, dislodging the building from its foundation. Killington Resort's lift towers and structures, lodging properties and Golf Course have sustained minimal damage.

Summer operations of the K-1 Lodge, hiking and Golf Course will reopen after crews assess the damages. Mountain biking will tentatively resume after assessment of the trail network is complete. Pico Mountain summer operations are now closed for the season.

Killington Resort plans to open on schedule for the 2011-12 winter season.

As power and phone service are re-established at Killington Resort, more updates will be forthcoming. - Facebook

not with that attitude they wont! I know Chris Nyberg (sp?) and he is a resourceful motherfucker, he will pull something out of his ass for this.

Little towns in Vermont, with so much great ski vibes and culture, were swept away. So bummed, such a great place to live and visit.

This. I saw a covered bridge get swept away on the news. Really bummed me out, so much history destroyed in seconds

For sure. Crazy to see pictures of the water in some of those p[laces. IT's like holy there's where the road used to be, seeing places you know just flooded bad.

it's gonna be ad hoc, makeshift, they can set a foundation but theyd be building in a cold at best, they're gonna put up sumthin portable, quick, cheap, but im sure the food will be great, ski food always is, cuz skiing makes food great. when i have kids and they give me an attitude about the food i feed them, im gonna drop them off a heli in bc and have a plate of japanese squid at the bottom. theyll never complain about my wifes horrid cooking after that

Hi All,

Thanks for your concerns. We did not in fact loose a lodge here at Killington. We did loose the Superstar Pub which was an addition to the K-1 Lodge. It was a room that maybe got used a total of 12 Saturdays out of the whole year. Honestly, not a large loss at all. BUT, the best news is that we are on track to open on schedule for the 2011/12 season!!!

So dust off those skis and boots, we'll be opening just as soon as we can make snow!!

Not Bear Lodge. It's the Superstar Pub just off of the K-1 Lodge. The lodge itself, is totally fine. Was in it today and it didn't even get water damage!
