what's everyone going to school for right now?

or what were you lucky enough to score w/o much post highschool education...

I'm a senior. good gpa. choices for where I wanna go...

now i need to pick something damnit

You still have plenty of time to pick something to do. You won't have to decide until your 2nd year of college or so.

Personally I'm going for my BS degree in Chemistry. With that I want to either go to Med School (not sure what I want to pursue yet..) or move out west and get a job with a "Green" chemistry company working on alternative energies or ways to benefit the environment.

yaya I know I have time...it'd just be nice to see other people's picks.

there's so much shit out their to major in that I know nothing about but would probably think it's fun as hell.

i'm liking my job right now making and selling hats. i make some decent money in college. hopefully i can get big enough to do it after college.

i choose the navy after dropping out after a semester. it really is a great idea for people like me. just a pothead who only cared about what was good for the weekend making 10 dollars an hour at home depot. now i'm making 1300 a month and soon to be getting 1500 and i have full beneifts and getting housing allowance soon. i already have 12 credits in four months from just boot camp and my training alone. and they'll be paying for my college while i'm here and afterwards. so becoming a new york state trooper shouldn't be too hard. the navy is not as bad as people make it out to be. and i get to tour the world for free while i'm here. pretty killer job

good for you man, that was cool to read about. it's good that you're makin it work for ya.

i'm in finance, trying to get into private equity analysis and investment banking eventually. but i'm sure i'll have to start way lower on the ladder to get there

im goonna be going to syracuse university for the spring semester as a landscape architecture student. ill be designing the layouts of parks and gardens to start, then hopefully work my way up to designing golf courses and ski resorts!!! shits gonna be sick

no doubt man. people should have an open mind, i never understood why anybody would talk shit about the armed forces/navy/coast guard/etc. honestly if i had another life to play with i'd try and make it in the marines, just always seemed like an awesome challenge to me

yeah as long you don't become a cocky jarhead like most of them here. meanwhile they have the same job as me but in the marines.

like my sig says. some people need to realize that they live in this land of the free because of the brave and stop hating on the arms forces. we need some more people like me to defend this country

personally i'm going to major in mechanical engineering and then after college try and get a job with a big auto manufactuter designing some cars or something...

thats what i wanted to do but, decided that next year(soph year in college) im going to transfer to a southern east coast school for professional golf management. ill be going to schoool to be the pro at your local golf course. shoul be really sick

^impressive.

I started out as a CS major, but then changed to business with an emphasis in marketing. I stopped going and started working a few classes short of my bachelors.

I currently work as a research assistant at microsoft. I would like to go back to school and finish my bachelors, and perhaps get a masters in a direction I feel is more suited to my current interests.

Mechanical engineer or automotive technician. Both are pretty killer jobs, mechanics are in high demand these days and the pay is pretty damn good if your reliable and know what your doing.

BS in Anthropology and a minor in Digital Media Arts (thought I wanted to make documentaries)

But after realizing that I'm a really different person than I was in highschool, I have decided to go back to school and will be getting a BS in Apparel Merchandising and Management with emphasis on Apparel Production and will hopefully be working for an action sports company handling brand management for the winter lines. I'ld happily settle for Marketing Specialist or Product designer.

I have a friend that did that same degree. He is now a supervisor at the village in mammoth making pretty good money.

Its a pretty legit degree. If your getting the BAA see how much more it will take for a marketing minor. Will make you way more marketable for the high profile positions.

Are you really criticizing someone for pursuing something they are passionate about? Not everyone wants a traditional job, and phtography is a really interesting career path.

As for me, I am studying architecture right now, but am still considering switching over to photography. That, or possibly staying in school a really long time, going way into debt, and getting both degrees.

went to high school, then one year of college, stopped going and got hired by a production company, now I do what I love and get paid to do it, I wouldn't even call it work.

Nursing for sure, always in demand too.

As a travel nurse you could spend 1-2 months in salt lake city, denver, whistler, and anywhere else, going from place to place. Lodging paid for, travel paid for, and they'll even reimburse (sp?) you for your food. Plus a big hourly wage, $50 some places, that goes right into your pocket.

Have fun working 80 hours a week if you want to be an IB.

I was doing that and aiming to be in IB for a while. Decided i'd swap to accounting. Pretty keen to pick up some more finance/Econ stuff before i finish my degree though. Can't say it wouldn't be an interesting job though.

i would say this is a rather entertaining job. i de-ice planes for delta. just a job though. no career.

hah. that de-icer job looks mad fun...or at least something interesting for some money

I'm leaning towards business but can't figure out what direction I want to take it. Something in the ski/snowboard industry making bank would be my goal obviously

exactly. its about choosing something thats fun for you. hey, a shitload of money is good, and you can have fun with that, but if you hate your job that money wont last you long, and you prolly wont either.

and as you know, you dont have to choose right away. im a frosh and im just studying liberal arts so i can get a broad range of classes. maybe try to pursue a few diff job opportunities, or internship somewhere that you think might be interesting, or take classes that you think you might be interested in. hands on experience in a subject is prolly the best way to decide what you want to do. and if you still dont know after 2 years in college, then major in something fairly broad that covers a lot of things that you're interested in. for example say business, no matter what you wanna do, whether it be own a ski shop, be a lawyer, work for GE, own a car garage, or w/e, ultimately you wanna own your own place and/or do things your way. be your own boss. use your ideas to make money. almost everything in some way, shape, or form involves business, and theres more majors out there too that do the same. if you major in aviation, and then you realize you get motion sickness or are afraid of heights, or just hate the subject, its gonna be harder to grab onto somthing else and its going to take more time. just have fun and do what you like doing best.

I would confidently say that engineering and medicine are the two most promising majors. That is why i am a civil engineer (in process).
