he is 10 years old and was unresponsive for a little bit, had to be choppered out, i work there and this place will close if we are sued by the family

+ vibes for him

If he bought a ticket, he agreed to the liability thing on the back. Therefore, he knew the inherent risks of skiing.

However, we all know about the guy that got paralyzed at Keystone (?) in the park.

+ vibes for the kid. that would suck if the mountain closed, what case would they have to sue? like how would it be the mountains fault if he just fell off? just curious

im not sure if the family could but we dont have safety bars on the lift so thats one possiblity. im not saying they are sueing but im saying if they did have a case against us

i just found out who he is and i know the kid

he was really the coolest kid ever, he talks about anything the entire way up the lift. a really really really nice kid

What Resort are we talking about?? and just because there is no safty bars doesent mean they can sue............

My fell off the lift a week ago and broke his hip(:(), but the dostors said it could have been way more serious if he fell more to the right on his hip.

Thats sad and vibes go out to the little boy. But if the parents decide to sue they are pieces of shit for trying to profit off their childs injury. Unfortunately its probably a family that doesn't love or care about the sport that much so they probably will if they have a case.

wow, yeah must be small i grew up in Lake Geneva WI and i never heard of highlands of olympia..?...... but damn sorry to here that, how the kid doing?? I had a kid get hit my a snowmobile at my resort and the kid wont be walking ever........... so +++++++V..................................

The liability clauses on the back of tickets don't really do anything in a lawsuit...

And your looking for Snoqualmie instead of Keystone.

its a small man made hill

idk how long its been there but you see it from i-94 on the way from mil to madison

I had a girl in my ski lesson fall off at the first tower of the lift two weeks ago. She had to go to the hospital on a spinal board. But the trooper came back for a lesson the next week.

go her. yeah kinda weird that i have a bunch of friends (that don't ski) that live in oconomowoc. and hope the little dudes alright. that will blow if they close the mountain

if he has a lot of money worth of medical bills suing might be their only option...not saying its right but its either that or lose everything you own for the rest of your life...
think of what you would do looking down a 7 figure bill. just saying.

ur home mountain says bousquet so if thats where it was i definately saw that kid laying on the ground when i was on the lift, was it on yellow?

The thing that sucks is since the chair lift doesn't have a safety bar then the family definitely has a case against the ski area. There have been a few trials in Colorado, including Crested Butte, Vail, Aspen, Copper Mountain, and Wolf Creek where ski areas were at fault for injuries caused from falling off a lift with no safety bar, which is why every lift now has a safety bar in Colorado. The most recent one was in 1998 and people have gotten big sums of money from them.

This shit sucks on so many levels. Kid fell from the lift, you *could* lose your hill, AND you have to ski highlands on olympia.... bummer dude. I've seen that shit from the interstate and it makes me grateful to ski Cascade hahaha

just checked with them. I was wrong. they live in madison. but they said that i have probably heard it because its really close to a race track around there

did he have the bar down?

if not, then it's his liability.

i went to a new mountain last night. small place in souther PA, and i have never seen so many people hurt themselves. People really don't know what they are doing.

dude i wouldnt worry becuase he bought the lift ticket knowing all the risks involved when skiing. im sure it says that on the lift ticket. and a few weeks ago i was skiing at my local moutain and 2 kids fell off the chair and they both broke there collarbones and nothing has happend to our mountain yet

Dude. That is terrible man. I'm sure that if the parents sue they aren't doing it maliciously in an attempt to shut down a ski resort. If they do sue, as someone said before, it's most likely going to be due to the huge medical bill that they're staring at. Imagine if he's paralyzed. That's a whole hell of a lot of money to take care of him and make their home accessible and what not. Just saying. Also, no matter what the back of the ski ticket says, they have a case against the resort. Welcome to America, the legal system is so fucked, it's pretty much impossible to protect yourself.

Alot of times if your insurance company thinks the other party is at fault (so if they think the ski hill is at fault) they will force you to sue them so they don't have to dish out the money. Insurance companies are such fucking crooks.

^This. The way health insurance works in the states you have no choice but to sue and get as much money as you can. So the real thing to hope for, whether it's for the kid's sake or the resort's, is that he's not too badly injured and his medical bills will remain relatively low.

hey man thats sucks hardcore ++vibes for the kid all the way, but the news report on the accident said he was swing his chair and was given a verbal warning to stop so on the lawsuit matter i think you'd be safe. i could be wrong tho.

How do you fall off a lift is the real question. I mean I can understand if you're like 3ft tall. But yeah Vibes+++

Just saw that shit on the news this morningThey were saying the kid was swinging back and forth on the lift and was warned to stop, I dont know if that is legit or not, but thats what the story was saying.

Umm I am not sure if you are talking about Colorado. If so, you don't ski a lot of places.... some resorts in colorado have a couple lifts without a bar.
Ever lift in the 303 doesn't have a safety bar son.

the kid is 10 years old and very small

ther is no way that he could swing it that much, but i heard that too because the only person of "authority was a douchebag ski patroler* who prolly yelled at him for nothing and scared the crap outa the kid causing him to be a little starteled making him fall out.

*the patroler is so gay, and he is the kind of guy who would make something up to cover his ass

But then again insurance companies sue so... Maybe they will and not do it in such a bad way as someone stated above. I just hope they wouldn't get 14 mil.
