Kicking horse Golden Question

Our base camp is Golden, but we'll probably ski kicking horse twice, and then road trip each day to Revelstoke, Panorama, Lake Louise, and Sunshine

Comments on any of the above or suggestions on which places to avoid on the weekend would be helpful. How early do we need to be at the lifts to get first chair on a powder day as well?

Any good places to eat in town (Golden) as well would be helpful?

kh wasnt as busy as it was this weekend compared to last weekend

just be there before 9 to get gondola with no line

turning point, apostilies, mr mozzerela and A&W are great placees to eat
 
aha mason a&w... i dunno bout that one seeing as though you work there

i second apostolies; it's a great place to eat and its reasonably priced
 
PANO's not really worth it unless it's had a meter of snow in a week.

Taynton bowl's the only thing worth the venture there...actually, the on-hill accomodations and massive hottub are a nice touch....but if you're base is in Golden, you won't have access.

Just curious, what's the drive from Golden to Revelstoke like?

I know it's 150km (google maps), but can one do it in 1.5 hrs?

What about 2hrs?...with or without shitty weather?

budget 2 hours. one of the nice things about being based in golden and traveling to revy is the 1 hour time difference. you can leave @ 8am, drive 2 hours and get to the hill @ 9am.

for food in golden -whitetooth bistro for the win.

revy has discounted passes too. If you have a seasons pass to any mountain in the area they'll give you a discount, and if you're a student you get one too. I get a lift ticket for $33 for that reason. I love revelstoke.
 
yep, i've got an rcr student pass, and apparently that gives me the seasons pass holder and student discount. i was definitely happy with the price, it makes such a nice change from the $60 or so you have to shell out at a lot of other places. It's a sick mountain, and definitely do some hiking and exploring in the south bowl, alot of "backcountry" stuff will end up at a cat track that just takes you right back to the lifts.
 
If I don't get that discount using my Louise card, I'm gonna be pissed!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm hitting Revelstoke this Saturday. I can't friggin' wait.
 
well according to revy's website they dont accept rcr passes for the seasons pass discount, but every time i've been there the person at the ticket counter has, so you should be fine. by the way, i was there friday, saturday and sunday, i might have seen you there

I was only there Saturday...wuz at KH the other two days (FRI/SUN).

I did the hike up to Critical Peak at Revy twice on Saturday...and I gotta say, they had some pretty gnar stuff off of the peak and the entire ridge...whatever it's called.

Bluebird skys and fresh pow days after a snowfall....not bad.

Friggin' wicked.

I was wearing all green w/ bad lieutenant skid lid riding GOtAmAs. Good choice of ski, but not for the lower mtn that day.
 
yeah we did the hike that day too, it was wicked. also took advantage of the prior demo day, tried the doughboys, and then today i gave into temptation and ordered a pair. sunday was a pretty awesome day too, it was snowing hard all day long, the north bowl was beautiful! i had brown sessions pants, brown plaid orage jacket and mantras.
 
Ya, a chickiepoo I was skiing with demoed Priors that day too.

She was hurtin' when she put the only B2's back on...pretty funny.

KH on Sunday started off w/o any snow, but then was moderately pounding all afternoon.

I love it when the snow conditions are improve every single time you go down.

Just wonder, what was visibility like at Revy? KH was obviously not too too hot.

Does Revy traditionally get a lot of fog and/or cloud cover? I would think with the river and the open delta, it'd be prone to crap like that. Just wondering.
 
yeah, except for saturday it was kind of bad vis. but for the most part, once you got into the north bowl it was ok, and it was only ever completely covered in fog right at the bottom, and there's only really groomers there anyways, so its not a big issue at all. I didnt mind at all, because for the most part the visibility was only bad when it was dumping snow.
