Kicker trick guide

we are started to make a trick guide, therefore we have set up a cork, bio, flat thread yesterday making a collection of models in sketch up to show those tricks in sequences. While still building new jump models we want to create variations by adding as many as possible grabs.

We have already made a concept to show the different possibilities. Upto now we collected something about 38 grabs. The names given are from the Info I found in the trick tip cult and other forums here on newschoolers. With some grabs like tail, blunt and so there always seems to be a discussion about names.

We basically want to make sure we use the right terms when making the guide, so it would be helpful to get some info if the names we collected are correct, and if there are more suggested grabs to get to know them.

there are two pictures, one for uncrossed grabs and one for crossed grabs (all grabs are right handed grabs in the pictures apart the double grabs :)

so it would be nice if we get some feedback on this work and further suggestions,

thnx

Before I forget to mention it, maybe you could give a top 5 as well of your favorite grabs (not those you do the most, but what you think looks the best)

You should write some news articles like this. Could be a fantastic series, and I bet anything you'd get a great response!

Actually a pretty solid diagram.

I've never heard of illegal, and always thought phil grab was a crossed safety.

Is there a grab with screamin seamen? I know screamin seamen, but did not really know a grab combined with it?

Stop trying to force the news, this isn't the way to do it, a trick guide isn't news. Nevertheless seems like a good idea, you've overcomplicated a bit though, but still good nonetheless.

A couple comments, although this is an awesome guide overall:

I think guitar can be imagined as a mute grab, but with both hands on the same ski, right next to each other. There should definitely be a name for it otherwise, since it's one of my favorites.

Also, nose and true nose are kind of redundant; I've always called what you call just 'nose' high safety or, if it's poked, scissors (the way Sammy Carlson and, way back, Dudemont, used to do them).

So let me get this straight. You didn't bother reading the OP and instead made the effort to ask what it says so someone has to type it again and you have to read through to see if anyone's responded and then read that. Why not just read the fucking OP? Jesus wept.

As a all mountain rider who never really spends any time in the park,

This finally makes sense now. Thank you!

is there one for flips/spins?

I guess you call a double japan a crouton. Is there a way to make note of multiple names for the same grab? Also, there needs to be some note about kicking out japans and kangs, so you don't upset the likes of Mike Nick et al.

In the final guide there are descriptions of every grab as well, because as you said the japan and kang need a kicked out leg, crouton should actually be right hand japan, left in front of binding inside edge left ski, I have seen the name japan mutant as well so if some grabs have more names it would be nice to know what they can be called as well!! Thnx for the bro kang, that really looks sick

could it be described right hand, right outside ski edge right leg kicked forward?

here is one more I found, what is this called?

and what might this one be called, screamin seamen japan?

Actually to make the guide more clear, I want to ad models like this here together with the grafik above to give a more detailed look especially for tweaked versions, liu kangs, japans and so

so in combination that would maybe give a clear picture of different grabs

Yes. (it can be done left, but I guess you already stated all grabs are right handed)

I'm pumped that someone is working on this. I hope that you get some benefit out of this work.

We have found a few more combinations which I can't find any name for, would be nice to add in the guide:

a) right hand grabbing right ski on inside edge in the nose area

b) right hand grabbing right ski in front of binding, left hand grabbing critical on right ski

c) right hand grabbing outside tail left ski with ski crossed grabbing in front of body (upper body turned left, no stalefish)

d) same as c) but at the same time left hand grabs right tail (don't know if that's possible though)

e) same as d) but other way round

Are there more japan variations apart from crouton and screamin seamen japan?

And of course any other new suggestions are great, want to make the guide as complete as possible!!

Thnx

Huntony:

Grab outside edge left ski just infront of boot, pull that ski up to your right knee while kicking back your right ski.

mike-douglas-huntony-brobomb1.jpg

Rocket Air:

Twist to right, grab left outside edge in front of toe pice

Can also be done in Screamin Semen and I don't know what that is called

Stale Japan, Mute Kang, or Schad Grab (Shannon Schad did them lots back in the day):

Same as Japan but grabbing infront of your left boot

There will always be creativity. What do you call this?

Right hand right tail and left hand left tail:

Ski crossed: gesus grab

Ski uncrossed: backpack

Is that correct?

Can't find a name yet, still searching!! It looks like both hands nose, but as wel kang because of the stretched leg and apart from that it is really true nose because the guy nearly seems to touch the ski with his head.....i have seen such a picture before one time, i will try to find it back hoping there is a name given!! Really cool grab though!!

blunt is blunt whether your skis are crossed or not. and a phil grab is a safety when your skis are crossed.

Oke with the blunt I have read a lot of times that it is always called blunt crossed or uncrossed - would it make sense to add crossed blunt and uncrossed blunt because it actually makes a big difference in what the jump looks like?

Phil grab I have only found that in the trick tip cult, so actually the crossed safety version might be correct, but are there any pictures. If I google phil grab actually there is nothing really useful on the net, so would be great to find out more about that!!

I am probably wrong but i always thought seatbelt grab was right hand over left leg to inside of right ski, like so641353.jpeg

also dont forget liu kang, which shouldn't be confused with bro kang. liu kang you kick your grabbed ski back instead of forward

641352.jpeg

641481.pngtook a still of the grab, looks geat actually, should maybe help to get cork into spin,

we are going further correcting the guide above planning to make it more easy to understand, so we have the idea to split all those grabs into categories with variations.

for example:

safety grabs (safety, insdie safety.....)

mute grabs (mute, nose mute, uncrossed mute, guitar....)

tail grabs

nose grabs

.....

any suggestions if you would think that making different grafiks for those split up categories makes sense to get the guide more clear?

which categories would make sense?

thnx
