Stage 1 - Race-built Toyota automatic (A340) transmission designed to hold up to 600 RWHP. Developed by an extensive R&D program, which entailed testing in extreme conditions including stop and go driving as well as back to back 9 second passes at the dragstrip. We did not use somebody else's version of a built toyota transmission as a base as most of the offerings at the time all had internal flaws.( improper shimming, clutches, line pressure) We felt that starting from scratch with a high horsepower street car was the way to attain the results we were seeking. This transmission is adequate for a 10 second steet car.
Stage 2 - This is the strongest Toyota automatic available. It features a GM second gear sprague, not a hardend stock piece. This sprague is twice the size and strength of the stock unit allowing us to run a higher line pressure which in turn applies more force to the clutch packs resulting in higher horserpower capability. Marko Djuric has run a 9.55 @147 with this unit at the 2003 Texas Supra Meet, also making 903 RWHP through it without issues. This transmission is adequate for a 9 second street car.
