I was just thinking about this today...

Why did Keystone's terrain park move to A51? I don't know if many people will remember when it used to be jack rabbit(or something like that), but I really liked that location more. For those that don't know, it started on the run right under the gondola (dercums) and then cut off right lower down. It wasn't well made then at all. But they had two jumps at the top section, then in the lower part they had a set of 3 and another set of 2 (if I remember right...)

The only reason I see for moving to a51 is the lift, but that old terrain park went basically the whole run so you could just jump on the lift on the side of the gondola. That terrain park had the potential to be awesome...

it was kind of fun because it was a long ass park run but im so glad they moved it. there wasnt any flow because there were so many different sections. also it really sucked having to take up that lift and ski down the groomers back to the bottom. too many people in the lines and too long of a lift ride compared to the 5 minutes in a51. its so nice how everything is spread out so it doesnt get that crowded.

a51 was probaly moved to alleviate retarded skier traffic from entering it. its over on the far skiers left so people dont accidently stumble into it or simply end up in it. its a good spot.

i absolutley hated keystone when their park went under the gondola. My take on why the moved it is because it helps skier traffic, makes more sense, and the now current park lift was never really used as that was an old beginner area (originally, mountain house was the main base area). Now they use the beginner area on top of dercum off of Schoolmarm.

Well...you are on park crew, get a few promotions and make it happen. Just make everything chair 5 serves terrain park, or just put in some sort of ground lift to service park land and freeway, a rope tow would be legit cus you could get on and off whenever you wanted. Put it to the skiers right of the pipe, then curve it to go inbetween the main rail line and jump line in freeway...be perfect.

I wish things were that easy. It's been a struggle to even have a early season park on peak 9...and its not looking like that is going to happen at this point. I spent 4 years at Steamboat in hopes of having some power to actually change things, and just as we were getting ready to make one of the most epic parks/jumplines boat has ever had, management decided to shut it all down because it didn't fit their "idea" of what steamboat should be. No amount of support in the area changed it. Ski school would probably cry a river if chair 5 became exclusive...and as with any mounting, being the biggest money maker, management doesnt like "stickin it to em"....where as with parks, that isnt so hard.
