Keystone park crew is not killing it

I guess Colorado has had some pretty shitty weather the past week and with the big jump open, no one was really able to hit it because of snow and wind. The weather has cleared up this week and they are now choosing to close the jump the week before Dew and World cup.

Kind of a bummer for all of the euros, and anyone else who went to Colorado a couple weeks early to train for the world cup.

dude of course people are gonna train. I dont see what is wrong with training ..... , there are thousands of dollars and olympic qualifications on the line. ...

Those pros got conned hard by Keystone can't blame them at all hitting the big jumps is probably the only reason they are there in the first place.

Wow, it's almost like you read the comments on facebook and just repeated what everyone was complaining about. You're such a smart dude. Your SAT score must be really high or something.

are mountains really struggling to put up jumps now. The mountains around me have a few up, I mean they are not HUGE, but they are good

Y'all have some issues with the word 'training' you need to work out. People came from another continent to ski jumps, which happen to be closed at an inopportune time. It means nothing about 'the state of the sport' or some shit like that.. people have been 'getting ready' for contests (which you might even call... training) since the very beginning of contests. And had previously-open jumps been closed right before the US Open in 2001, people probably wouldn't have been that psyched then either.

I think these people are trying to train for the world cup that is in Copper in a week, not dew tour.

What a bunch of spoiled, entitled, whiny bitches. If the lost three days is going to make or break your "training" program then I hate to be the one to tell you this but guess what, you already aren't going to win.

Sorry the world doesn't revolve around you and Keystone is busy building their park for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile I'm skiing a rail I set up and brought on the mountain seriously relax. I do not work there that's the sad part

Nope, I don't follow pro free skiing hardly know who anyone is other than Bode Miller, Lindsay Vonn, and Tanner Hall.

But thanks anyways. You should be rimming my asshole since ever since I've been speaking my mind on this website I've turned you into a big warm fuzzy teddy bear to everyone by being a bigger asshole than yourself.

I even deleted the last part of my post about Keystone/Summit county sucking fat dick to not look like a troll and still someone gave me shit.

Why would pro skiiers go to Keystone if not for the world class parks? Mountain blows.

Dunno about that the big features sort of revolve around serious/pro level skiiers. Average people don't hit jumps like the ones Keystone is fucking with.

Now everyone on motherfucking newschoolers is an amazing pro level park skiier and probably hits them non stop of course so I must be skiing different days and all....

I very rarely see people hit the biggest jump in the park whenever I ski. (I'm referring to 50ft+ jumps of course don't be stupid I'm not referencing parks where the biggest jump is 20ft.)

fuck jumps lets get more features in the park then lets talk jumps. if people need to train for dew tour brick then just go to breck. Hasn't the course been open to people for practice?

Well there goes my entire Sochi training schedule thanks to keystone. I'm going to be doing extra squats for weeks to make up for the on-snow practice that I missed.

This.

Why is there no appreciation for the fact that Keystone's Park Crew bothered to tell everyone? Some people are going to be SKIING Keystone the entire season and not TRAINING for a short period of time. This is a problem brought unto the competitors by themselves. They are not entitled to have jumps.

If this 3 day closure of 2 mediocre large jumps actually affects any athlete, then they were probably not going to win in the first place.

But that stuff is lame to people who are serious park skiiers.

Its all about the huge jumps and getting comfortable with their tricks.

Their livelyhoods on the line and the cant practice the most important part of the competition. Theres prob not enough snow to go build sick ass booters off piste either.

They aren't being prima donnas.

And honestly, I never see anyone hit big jumps maybe Colorado is different but if I am at Northstar and am riding the lift on the big feature park I can go the entire day without seeing someone hit the biggest jump. So if these jumps aren't there for them IDK who they are.

(Again we are on newschoolers so clearly everyone is amazing and pro level skiier and there isn't anyone on here who doesn't have the balls to hit a 60footer of course.)

The issue at hand really is timing. The weather's been pretty bad this month in terms of wind and pretty much everybody who's been itching to hit some big jumps has been eyeing this window of good weather (Wednesday-Saturday), and they chose this small window of nice weather to do a very arguably unnecessary rebuild.

Lol ,People on newschoolers need to learn that a lot of kids who compete at the world cup take this very shit seriously. Its an olympic sport now, and to some (not all) that is a BIG deal. They have coaches, and sponsors that are pushing them to do well. You might hate these people, but you should at least recognize they exist.

I love how the kid with one rail to ski on his mountain, tries to compare himself with someone like kai mahler. The people affected by this, are the people that are training for the FIS World Cup at Copper, which I assume is exactly what Kai is trying to do. Slopestyle has essentially become a sport of double corks, and clearly is would be helpful and much more safe to get some big rotations in before the competition, or limited training at Copper. It might actually cause a good skier to lose if they can't practice throwing both way doubles, while their competition in Europe can.

Anyway the point is that hitting big jumps before a comp helps a lot, and many teams and individuals have come to Keystone this week specifically to hit big jumps. They were the only jumps of that size in Colorado, probably in North America. ... You gotta admit is pretty stupid of Keystone to wait until next week...

It's official, skiing has entered the realm known as hell. ski0 is Satan and he's here to help make the transition easier to understand... and it's not working.

Pretty sure he is one to be honest, at least when i saw him at freeze last year he was complaining a shit tonne about that kicker.

Keystone park crew is indeed killing it. Those big jumps arent open for another few weeks if not a month in a normal season. the fact that they went out of their way to build the big jumps first for everyone to train on says enough.

Its a shitty situation if you paid out a few grand in hopes to train jumps, but everyone is in the same boat, and if nobody is training, everyone is on equal footing going into the comp.

Ungrateful!! These athletes have a lot on the line with 5 Olympic qualifiers between now and February. There is a huge amt of stress to perform to your highest level starting with the Dew!! Many have traveled very very far, spending lots of money, just to session the sizable jumps only A51 has right now. The riders practicing for the Dew haven't had a lot of practice, with wind and snow being a huge factor last week. It's not safe to go into the Dew not having had an adequate amt of time preparing, I just don't understand Keystones timing on this. It's rediculous.

Super lol at all the pros getting that mad over not being able to hit jumps. What a fucking joke this sport is becoming.
