Keystone or Beaver Creek

Dear spaghetticat,

I see you are tiring of the capitalist system of living, and the insane crowds and lack of snow at the horrible Colorado I-70 ski resorts. Have you ever considered skiing the Tieback Mountains instead? Just a few miles from the seaside resort of Wonsan lies some of the best skiing in the world at Glorious Masikyrong Ski Resort, and I would like to extend you a personal invitation to come ski our extensive terrain and experience the ultimate in luxury accommodations. Masikyrong truly is world class. As an extra incentive, we have some of the best riding in the world, as you will never have to worry about traffic driving I-70, and the insane crowds associated with the east coast. Surely, you are tired of dealing with the crowded riding conditions of the South Korean dump that is Keystone on a weekend? Unlike ColoRADbro, Masik Pass has received ample snowfall this season. I would love to welcome you to experience the joy that is skiing in the DPRK. Although our rails may not be as extensive as the ones at A51, I can assure you the glorious snow surface and lack of crowds ensure that you will have an excellent time skiing in the DPRK.

I don't know anything about Beaver Creek (hopefully someone else can give input on this), but Keystone is generally pretty bland. Their park, A-51 is kickass though.

If you're looking to ski park just go to Keystone considering the tickets are cheaper and you won't need to drive as far assuming you're coming from Denver. Beaver Creek's terrain is more technical so if this isn't a park trip and you have he cash then hit it up, just make sure to pack some sandwiches unless you like dropping 20s on food.

I Hope this dude gets member of the month

Kinda touched on earlier

Been just about everywhere in Colorado and in terms of terrain, Keystone is pretty much the worst mountain. The windows and some of the bowls are fun but are very long hikes for the average rider. If you are riding a lot of park, then my opinion is quite the contrary. A51 is very, very good.

Im going to be out in CO in a couple weeks. Staying at Breck and skiing sunday and monday but not opposed to driving around to other resorts as well. Any recommendations for a resort for a sunday that wont be crowded? Looking to ski steeps, trees, etc not looking to ride park at all isn't a priority

If you're not looking to ride any park, id cross Keystone off the list. In short, A-basin probably has the best steeps (palli lift/chutes, east wall), Copper/Breck have the all around package. Copper's bowls are underrated and can be very fun. Loveland is also fun if they have new snow. No where in summit really has anything too gnarly but Copper and Loveland are hands down my favorite if you're looking to have a fun day.

Depends what you are looking for both mountains have good terrain, but if you are looking for more, better park skiing i'd go to Keystone. Keystone has a way better base if that matters to you.

Go to beaver, yea the park at keystone is fucking lit but the WHOLE mountain of beaver is fucking awesome. Plus they give out free cookies at 3:00 every day!

FUCK KEYSTONE go to motherfuckin beaver creek the park is fun there too and you get cookies. and best part is it's not keystone so way less motherfuckers will be there. Does that fucking clear up any motherfuckin shit for you motherfucker.

Beaver creeks park isn't bad honestly. I worked there last year. Not even on the same planet as keystone or breck but the there is some pretty awesome terrain there.

Also people don't really shred the woods too hard there. People like groomers. I was getting deep pow stashes without even trying over 2 weeks without snow storms.

There are some pretty gnarly wooden rails in different places if you're into that. Some are sweet, some are SUPER SUPER SUPER SKETCH.

Idk, had a 3 jump line last year that was a 4 jump line but management thought the jump was too big. Anyway a nice 3 pack with a lofty 35 and change at the end was plenty of fun.

Idk, to me it's all what you're trying to ski. If you're there for a bit one nice thing is that NC is right next to vail who has a better park and a solid pipe. Nothing crazy but some better jibs generally. Also some great terrain but more beat out than BC.

If you have the gear some good hike to terrain at bc. Also some of those peaks are fucking empty.

The only reason to go to keystone is for the park and night skiing. Beaver creek sucks too but at least all of the gapers can't ski the diamonds so pow days are pretty dope there. I'd stick to Abasin, breck, winter park, copper if possible

You know where to get some discount tickets at Breck? For 2 days in april its $141 a day and can't find a better deal. Thats kinda ridiculous for a day of skiing but whatever

Keystone is horrendous, unless you're in the park. Very typical summit county resort skiing. Low vertical blue runs with high density of people. Get yourself some real turns and hit Abasin. Low crowds, high vertical. Beaver Creek has great potential in some of the chutes, which shall remain unnamed for the good of humanity. Vail of course, a bit busy on weekends, but it's Vail. Breck has good stuff up top. Great park. Stay off lower mountain anytime close to the weekend to avoid apocalyptic sized crowds.

Whats with all the hate for Keystone?

If you stay off the front side, and know where to go, keystone is a Gem.

That being said. Beaver is much more technical than keystone. It has a lot of bumps, and a good deal of their terrain is fairly steep. It is a pain in the ass to navigate the mountain though, IMO.

shops in downtown breck sometimes sell them at a discount or maybe you can look on liftopa, but for the most parts vail, breck, and keystones prices are pretty set in stone. Not too many deals floating around.

Maybe If you ask a vail employee who still has comp or 1/2 off tickets left. Otherwise youre outta luck

keystone for park, but if you want best of everything else and an ok park, Vail blows Beaver Creek out of the water, wayyyyy more terrain, and not nearly as long of lines as beaver creek because of it.

of all the mountains up here Beaver Creek and Breck are wayyyyy over hyped for what you get.

Longer lines at BC? Must have been the day you went honestly.

Also BC has a lot of terrain that's kind of off this way or that way with almost no line and a ton of bumps if you're into that.

Of all the days I've gone to beaver the longest wait I've ever had was for the drinking fountain.

The jumps at beaver are pretty goddamn nice. Only took two laps through there and mainly stuck to the "closed" stone creek chutes.

You guys did a kick ass job on the park last year....always meant to say thanks

Compared to rest of the Summit resorts- Keystone is pretty flat, no steep stuff, no gnarly fun terrain, no chutes, no easily accessible bowls, usually gets the least amount of snow, and gapers everywhere cause its a beginners mountain. a51 is fucking dope tho
